The last straw!! I\'m shaving my head (not really)

I cannot stand it anymore

I know that shedding hair is normal, and I'm happy that it sheds and doesn't break, but damn! This hair is every damn where and I don't know how to remedy this situation. When I say it's everywhere, I mean everywhere! Y'all, it was in my bowl of cereal this morning. (Me, being the hair obsessed person I am have measured and they range from 12-14 inches long! That's good, right?

) But imagine pulling that out of your mouth

Brastrap and beyond sistas, please give me some hope. Will it ever end, or am I destined to a lifetime of spaghetti with hairinara sauce?

Caramela you are crazy but you definately hit the nail on the head with your story. The same thing happens to me. I find myself sweeping every darn minute just to get the hair up... short pieces, long pieces...

Unfortunately Caramela, the longer your hair gets, the more of a nuisance it's going to be. Because the strands are longer, they are going to be way more noticeable around the house as opposed to a 3 inch strand. Consider yourself lucky.

Try doing your hair in remote parts of your house and keep your hair tucked away when you're around food. Have you ever tried cholesterol? This helped me a bunch with my shedding.

Yes, I am still doing my conditioner only washes. I do them like every other day now that it's cooler.
And no I haven't tried Cholesterol for shedding, what kind do you use? I do use the ORS hair mayo, would that do the same thing as cholesterol?

I'm using the kind by Dark-n-Lovely. I haven't used the ORS stuff, so I can't compare. All I know is that my hair has been in better condition since using it (for like a month now).

It must be the cold weather, cuz my hair seems to be shedding more lately, too!!

Once, I read about shedding, that all mammals shed. You don't think your cat or dog is going to go bald when you see hair so the same for you! Get to Sweeping!

Karonica, my hair's actually in pretty good condition. I think it's just going thru a cycle of shedding. But if I come across one more hair in my food, I'm gonna go crazy

I'm not shedding any more than usual. I have been washing my hair once a week for a little while now. Sometimes, I will do a conditioner rinse mid-week. Are you wearing your hair down? Are you using your curling iron, flat iron or blow dryer often? The weather has been getting chilly. Do you think it can be the weather?

Ah girl, then you are VERY lucky! Just keep that hair pinned up around food and keep-a-goin'! Oh, and once you're done doing your hair, make sure to clean up the hair on the floor, etc. because it will cling to your clothes and shoes and end up places it had no business being.

I noticed that the longer my hair gets it seems to shed more
I dont know if that is normal or maybe its b/c I am now paying more attention to it. I wish it could stop, but I really dont know what to do. My hair seems healthy, I rarely see broken pieces but I do see long pieces everytime i comb my hair

I agree with Karonica...you have to remember that your hair is longer so it may look like your picking up more hair than usual but a strand is taking up more space than usual, too. Again, it could be seasonal shedding. Are you experiencing dryness? Now that I've figured out my regimen for transitioning, I hardly shed at all...

Caramela, i feel you!!! I was having this same problem three weeks ago. The changes in weather were the cause. if its just now getting cooler where you are, that could be it. i was complaining to my mom and she said my hair has always shedded more when it gets cool. that was comforting and once i stopped thinking about it and wearing a hat in the cool mornings....no more excessive shedding.
it will stop. stay cool....or warm (your head of course).
