The feel of hair?

How do you guys judge whether a product works or not based on the feel of hair? How do you compare products that penetrate your hair and work on it to those that just sit there?

How do you determine if its a keeper be it shampoo, conditioner, leave in, mositurizer?

Feel of the hair...here are the things I look for:

*detangling and smoothness without a greasy or heavy feel
*ends feel smooth and soft, flip up when I run a comb over it instead of hanging stiff
*pliable feeling instead of coated or gunky

When a product really works on my hair, I can't keep my fingers out of it. It feels so soft and smooth.

I keep based on how it feels when I put it on my hair. Does it sink in or sit on top? Does it seem to penetrate? Also, how does my hair feel when I rinse it out? Is it dry and tangly or smooth and slippery?
How does it look the next day? Is it dry again? Or just as moisturized?
Those are some of things I look for.

If my hair is shiny and soft after it's been AIR dried then I feel like the product was a good one

Pretty much the same for me.

I don't like anything that leaves my hair feeling hard. I like a product that detangles, and leaves my hair soft and shiny and moisturized.
