We love dry bar just as much as the next girl, but when the broot opened right next to our Montana Avenue Store, offering an all-natural hair masks in addition a blow dry – we had to check it out. Below we break down the steps they take you through to get perfect silky-smooth, healthy hair.

step one: Select a hair mask based on the current condition of your hair. we all opted for the rehydrate mask and added in banana for strengthening measures.

step two:
Enjoy some coconut water in the cozy lounge area while the stylist mixes up the concoction.

step three:
Sit back, relax and get ready to enjoy a scalp massage and hair mask application.

step four:
Heat up under the dryer - they wrap you in a warm headband and lock the treatment in with a plastic covering while you read one of their many books on astrology, feng shui or fashion.

step five:
Rinse out the mask with a soothing
rejuvenating Shampoo and Moisturizing Rinse.

step six:
Opt to either Braid or Blow Dry your hair - we did both and are satisfied with both options. The Blow Dry leaves you with the instant gratification of party ready hair, while the braid allows you to finish some errands while it drys and then you're able to let it down for perfect beach waves!

These people are making money giving homemade deep treatments (literally, banana, avocados, etc) and a braid rotl :spinning:

It is only $35 dollars so I'll try next time I'm in the L.A Area. You can choose a braid or a bun and you get your scalped massaged with oil. I just think it's funny.

it's a good idea. a lot of people will pay to be pampered by someone else. DIY is one thing, but it's nothing like having someone else wash your hair! i would love for someone else to wash my hair right now. i just need to find someone i trust to do it.

now i would like for someone to tell me how a protein treatment is going to hydrate the hair, but a banana will add strength? that mayo and egg is a protein. i thought any time you add an egg to the mix, it becomes a strengthening treatment.

I agree. It looked like the same ingredients for each - just arranged differently on the board.:look:

Maybe the Measurements are different for the various combos.

I think we have alot of Mixtresses on this Board that can whip up many delicious combos as well. With great results.:lick:

Nice Concept tho':yep:

.

I was thinking this same thing. I would love the pampering of getting my hair washed and a scalp massage. And it would be even better if they were using natural ingredients.

They only got five ingredients? Interesting idea tho

I think you only need about 5 ingredients for most natural conditioners. There are a few more things you could add but I think it duplicates what they alread have. You could add some type of dairy (yogurt) or you could add coconut milk. But I think most of what they have covers 80% of what you need.

And You could use:

Black Strap Molasses
Papaya
Rice Milk
Goat Milk
Coconut Mllk
Tea
Coffee

At home I can see using that. But in a business I think its too much. I also think that after the basics for most heads it doesn't offer a lot of benefit to offset the cost.

They could offer those but if it were my shop it would be an upcharge. Just thinking of it from a business perspective not from a custome perspective. The simpler your business model the better it is.

I think being on LHCF so long we use so many ingredients that most people wouldn't let touch their head  I think most of my natural friends would have a hard time going to a salon using just the 5 products they listed  We think its normal.

@faithVA

I wasn't thinking they should use it.....I was just mentioning other ingredients:lol:

*typical pj move*

Yeah I know. I just felt like typing. Sometimes I just want to talk to be talking because I really should be doing something else. I was supposed to be somewhere at 1 and I am procrastinating.

@faithVA

No, it was a good conversation. :yep:

I've counseled small businesses for over 16 years. The idea about offering those other ingredients for an upcharge would be a good move.

I could see offering the "add ons" with an Al A Carte Menu. Explaining what the other ingredients are Good/Used for. Kind of a Create your own.

Great idea.

IDareT'sHair

I was thinking the same about Al A Carte menu for an extra $5-$15 dollars she could call them boosters.

Dang we think alike was was even thinking most of the same ingredients but she also could do silk amino acids. This is great not everybody is a diy'er and we all like to be pampered. She could also add a steamer in the equation and add butters like murumuru, shea, or mango.

Yes, nothing like having a stylist wash your hair and do it for you. It's a nice way to pamper yourself. However, I'm not sure I would go to this deep conditioning bar. I would rather whip this stuff up myself since the ingredients don't seem to match up with the purposes. I prefer to save my money and go to to a stylist when I need other more advanced services like color, trim, cut, flat iron, natural hairstyle that i cant do myself, etc.
