The back of my head feels like Brillo- What can I do? Please help!

My hair is cut in layers in the back, and it looks rough, and feels that excessively. It started feeling this was a week or two ago and I believe it is from me relaxing my edges alone. I know it sounds crazy, but I did not do anything else. The front is not rough, but the back is. I only did my front, my nape as it was looking coarse, and I did not want to do my entire head.

I am not sure what can be done. I did cut some, but it still feels rough. Is there a treatment I can use to soften as it grows out?

Any advice is appreciated.

try clarifying and Deep Conditioning or even a oil treatment of sorts? What do you use on your hair? Maybe the relaxed parts don't take well to the parts you used on the natural portion of your hair.

Why did you only relax your edges?

Because it looked coarse and I have been holding off relaxing my entire head. I should have just used mousse or gel.

Anyway, funny enough, I went to the ladies room and bumped my hair and now the back feels fine. I wonder if the humidity made it feel dry and rough. Now it feels fine after I put some Silk Therapy on and bumped it. :ohwell:

I do air-dry too so I wonder if this contributes…

If it starts to feel rough again I would use pure shea butter. It softens my hair like nothing else. Just don't be heavy handed.

Lately I have been using Biolage or Shea Moisture.
