The Aveda Humectant Pomade is wonderful!

I wish I had known about this product sooner.. I have really fine hair and it was a tad dry this morning. I put a dab of the pomade between my hands and rubbed gently my hair focusing on ends and my hair was so soft!

Whenever I used to ask what to put on my hair I would be told RAZAC other some other oily hair creme which would just sit on my dressing table.

This product is expensive but just what I need! /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey Vevster,

That's great to know. When I start buying products again in February, I will definately try it.

Pebbles you are too funny!!!
I am over here cracking up at you!
In all seriuosness though I really hope you do last until Feburary.

Valleygirl
PS Is it the end of Feb or begining of Feb that you will start buying stuff agin?

Valleygirl,

You know, a girl's got to try!! /images/graemlins/crazy.gif But it's killing me!!! /images/graemlins/tongue.gif I don't know how long I can hang on! I have so much stuff looking at me. I need to use up this stuff! Pray for me... /images/graemlins/grin.gif

LMAO @ Pebbles. Girl is it that bad that you actually need us to pray for you??? /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Vevster do you mind listing the ingredients of the pomade please?

Girl!!!,

Believe me, I am such a PJ, it's torture making the commitment not to buy anything for another 2 months! /images/graemlins/crazy.gif /images/graemlins/wink.gif

I think I'm getting to that stage slowly myself. I plan to stick to buy the conditioner that I need but i can't help myself and have to buy about 2-3 things that I don't need, but somehow try to justify to myself that I need it.

I'm trying to use up what I have first before buying more. And I find myself washing my hair more frequently sometimes so I can use up the products to justify to myself AGAIN that I need to buy some more.

I totally understand Pebbles. I wen tthrough th same thing when I first started reading interner hair boards. I go through it every now an dthen when I want to do something different to my hair (roller set, straighten etc) And don't let something Ilike get discontinued!!! Oh goodness the different products to try to replace what I once had...

I thought I was the only one that did that!! /images/graemlins/blush.gif Sometimes I also give in and buy the same products but by different brands and try to justify it by saying that I'll use each one depending on what my hair "needs"! For instance, at my last trip to the beauty supply store, I bought 3 different wrap lotions even though I already had 2 no, make that 3, at home. Now I ask you, who on earth needs 6 wrap lotions at one time except for a stylist!!?? It's really bad for me because I've only been drying my hair using the ponytail method for the past 7 or 8 months /images/graemlins/blush.gif

U can do it Pebbles! Come on u r my ROCK! I have made it thus far and I think I will run and buy the AVEDA first! I have enough hair care products to last me for YEARS anyway! LOL Dont give in come on if you give in then that means I will fail too! Stay STRONG Pebbles!

NayNay,

Everyday when I drive by Sally's I just keep chanting to myself..."I think I can, I think I can, I think I can..." /images/graemlins/tongue.gif
I'm gonna hang in there. I really have to get rid of some of this stuff. /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

You guys really should consider selling some of your stuff -- even if it's already opened and mostly used-- on the hair product boards. People would buy half-opened stuff when they just want to try a product.

The ingredients are:

Purified water, extracts: flaxseed, bladderwrack, Aloe Barbensis, Oleth 10,PEG 25 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, glycerin, Isopropyl Palmitate, Diisopropyl Dimer dilinoleate, Sorbitol, hydroxypropyl bisstearyldimonium, Methyl Gluceth-20, fragrance, grapefruit seed extract, methylparaben, propylparaben, Diazolinyl Urea

HTH!~

You all have me cracking up. If I have to go in any store...not just Sally's, I have to force myself to buy only what I came for. I'm talking about grocery stores, Rite-Aid..if they have products for the hair I go and look to see what I can try out.
Valleygirl, I know what you mean about products being discontuinued...then you got to find a replacement /images/graemlins/crazy.gif
I brought the New Image thermal lotion you posted about for 99 cents...I noticed the whole line was 99 cents...she informed me that it was being discontinued that's why it was on sale. I said to myself...'it never fails...everytime I find something good...it's discontinued. Oh well...on to another product(like I needed an excuse).

For all you pj's out there, if this is any help...If you love the aveda humectant pomade, you can try the aura humectant pomade, very similar ingredients, scent is not as strong as aveda's and it costs about 4.99. I like it alot.

And if I am pj(admitting that is half the battle!!), I might as well be a frugal one! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I KNOW it is true whenever I go into a Drug store or anyplace I look at the hair products. However, I have been strong, but I do need an extra doo rag so I may cheat and get that but it isnt shampoo or anything. Can I tell u I don't use a satin pillowcase cover, but wear a satin cap...I have like 15 of them LOL....but only 2 doo rags..ok 3 so I have to buy another one-I only rotate between 2 of them. One has a big rip and I must have an extra what if I lose one! I am going to have to retire the one with the rip (my favorite)!
Pebbles u aren't allowed to buy anthing. I am just making a list for my day when I can PURCHASE again!!!!! Yeah! Come on Pebbles we will have to check in on every Monday to confess or boast about not buying anything....can't wait for the Aveda or Aura humectant pomade!!!!!!!
STAY STRONG PEBBLES!

NayNay,

You drive a hard bargain girl. /images/graemlins/grin.gif I'm really committed to this thing. The only item I did purchase is the Kwik Dri hood drier as my birthday/christmas present to myself. /images/graemlins/grin.gif (my birthday is December 19) I had planned to purchase this drier before we made this pact not to buy any more hair products. That's not cheating, is it? I always buy myself christmas and birthday gifts. I've got to spoil myself sometimes, don't you think?? /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I know I am so sad /images/graemlins/frown.gif

I bought 25 bottles the other day when I heard this!!! I have to stock up....I LOVE THIS STUFF!!!! There is nothing else out there like it (I'm serious I've looked and compared ingredients)

With this and the Ion Dryer my hair has never looked and felt better after blowdrying it out.
Oh well hopefully I will have enough to last me until something else gets manufactured. (I don't blowdry that often)

Does anyone have both the Aura Humectant Pomade and Aveda Humectant Pomade? I'm curious about the Aveda, but I already have the Aura and I wasn't overly impressed... I don't want to pay $20 for something that's going to end up being given away to my cousins. (They'll use anything!)
Or maybe someone with some chemical knowledge can compare the ingredients--

Aveda ingredients:
Purified water, extracts: flaxseed, bladderwrack, Aloe Barbensis, Oleth 10,PEG 25 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, glycerin, Isopropyl Palmitate, Diisopropyl Dimer dilinoleate, Sorbitol, hydroxypropyl bisstearyldimonium, Methyl Gluceth-20, fragrance, grapefruit seed extract, methylparaben, propylparaben, Diazolinyl Urea

Aura ingredients are:
water, oleth-10, peg-25, hydrogenated castor oil, caprylic/capric triglycerides, glycerin, oleth-20, isopropyl myristate, sorbitol, fragrance, basil oil, lavender oil, ascorbic acid, panthenol, methylparaben, dmdm hydantoin.

The Aura looks like vaseline, but it sinks in pretty fast and doesn't leave a greasy residue. It just doesn't seem to moisturize my hair very well...

P.S.-- I saw both Aveda Pomades at drugstore.com for $14.99 each...

No I don't think so....It is NOT a product so I think you are OK.

I think I am joining you and Nay in this challenge. I am going to stick with what works and not try anything NEW until Feb as well. B/c I go through conditioner and gel so quickly (a bottle of conditioner a week) I will allow myself to restock when I run out...but only the same ones...nothing new or different!!!! I am trying to stick to what works ...for a while at least.

What I do that seems to help is look at ingredients and see how many products out there are very similar. You'll be surprised.

Valleygirl

The aveda looks like jelly, as far as I am concerned it's like a hyped up curl activator with fragrance. Very moisturising just like cure activator!

I agree with ValleyGirl that the hair dryer is NOT cheating! It is vital to hair care and it is an appliance!
OK Pebbles and ValleyGirl we will do a PJ check every Monday until February!
Maybe I can go get a sample of the Aveda Pomade...unfortunately there is a store by me...but NO that is cheating so I won't!

I am sorry VG but your post about the 25 bottles had me CRACKING UP. I better go get me a bottle of New Image before they pack it up and send it all to Southern Cali.

--kasey

Sassy,

Maybe you can boost the effect of your Aura pomade by adding some flaxseed oil and some aloe vera gel. These two ingredients are pretty important for moisture. They are in the Aveda, but not in the Aura.

I know my friends and family think I am totally nuts...can you guys understand how hard it is for ME to find something that finally works and then they stop making it? It happens all the freaking time!!!

Don't think I wont call the company and buy much more directly from New Image!! I have done it before....
But I actually called and they said they have several THOUSAND bottles left in the wherehouse so it should still be on the shelves for some time....but just in caes I have my supply!!!

Sounds like a plan to me!!!

I just bought the Aura Humectant Pomade at sally's but.....listen to this.

I opened one jar and it looked like clear jello BUT there was a fingerprint in it as someone had used it and put it back. So i took the last jar and opened that one to check if there were any fingerprints and it was white. I took that one because it didn't have a fingerprint in it but I really don't know what it was supposed to look like.

Can anyone tell me what theirs looks like? And does anyone know if Aveda offers samples?

The way you described it is the way it's suppose to look (without the fingerprint of course). /images/graemlins/grin.gif If you lived near me, I would have bet it was my fingerprint. I do that sometimes. /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Edited to add:
BTW, it's white, but it's not pure white, kinda like the color of Vaseline.
