-Either I don't know how to stretch my relaxers, or stretching is NOT for me!
-I need to clarify!
-I don't need protective styles all the time... just when I where thick sweaters, wool coats, etc.
-I need to deep condition EVERY TIME I wash.
-Rollersetting is the best thing to happen to my hair 7 or more weeks after a relaxer.
-My hair NEEDS NTM hair mask. I tried to replace it because of the cones, but my hair said :nono:

I have learned that if I keep playing with my hair, I will tangle it, and then have to either cut or rip (I know, eek!!) the knot out. That means no growth.
this is my goal for 2007...keep my hands out of my hair!!!
:sekret: (IF ANYONE HAS SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO REACH THIS GOAL, TELL ME)

Guuuuuuuuurrrrrrrllllll, that is my goal too! I am relaxed and so I am bunning. When I was natural (Before LHCF) I use top play with my hair all the time! I love the texture between my fingers, don't you? So, for me it was a combination of the texture, and the feeling of someone playing in my hair, why I was addicted to playing in my hair. Find a scrap of cloth, or something that has a similar texture, make it into a keychain, and play with that every time you have the urge... That helped me, occasionally.

Amen on the sweat too much thing, I am looking for shampoos with out the sulfates in them to help with the frequent washings.

Do tell what is your homemade pre-poos?

I'm down with the pre-poos and the shampoo....co-washes make my hair feel like ick....:ohwell:

  • Cutting back on heat makes my hair thicker and helps me retain growth
  • I can rollerset my own hair and get salon quality results
  • Relaxing 2x a year works well for me
  • I can do my own trims and retain plenty of growth
  • Moisture = the key to long hair
What do you use for moisture. I am trying to find the best moisture solution for me. I have the oils thing down, but I need to know what moisture to use before I seal my hair with oils. TIA

Stretching my relaxer from 5wks to 9wks. Pre-pooing, bunning with the baggy and back to roller setting again has done wonders for my hair.

I've discovered that I can retain length... That has been the most amazing discovery of all. I have had zero breakage this year and while I used to shed 100 to 1000 hairs a day (I am not exaggerating), I have noticed no shedding at all this year, although there may have been some shed hairs as I rinse my hair.

I've learned that my hair loves grease -- oils, butters, pomades...My hair loved pomades and grease as a child and then it went without it for donkey years and it is so happy to have it again.

I've discovered that my hair can lie down completely without heat -- major one for me...as the massive amount of heat I was using after letting my relaxer grow out was even worst than the chemicals on my hair.

I've discovered the simple joy of gaining knowledge about a subject area and applying it with outstanding results.

Moisture+ oil+ protien= happy hair
It better that I AVIOD DRY COMBING AT ALL COST as a natual
the wetter the better

1. My hair can't take those strong proteins (ApHogee and such) and thrives better when I use something light (AO GPB)

2. My hair and scalp loooooooves oils.

3. Cream moisturizers work better for me than spray moisturizers. Spray moisturizers work fine right after I wash my hair and it is still damp though.

4. Half wigs seem to be to the best protective style for me. I can take them off after work to get to my hair so I can moisturize or do whatever else needs to be done to maintain it's health. I just couldn't take care of it the way I wanted to with the sew in weave.

5. My hair "acts" better and is healthier since I've cut down on using so many products. Simple is definitely better for me.

ETA: My hair feels soooo good when I pre-poo. And, it IS possible for me to stretch my relaxer past 6 wks.

The flat iron---no matter what type is not a friend of my hair
My hair loves Coconut Oil
My hair loves a good deep conditioning treatment---need to do more of them

1. My hair loves butter and so does my body. I ran out of lotion and used the avocado butter instead, I was a little shiny, but I liked it;)
2. Less heat + more rinsing= less breakage + more growth
3. Me: "Dry combing/brushing?" My hair: "Hell no!"

- Coconut Oil is a Godsend
- My hair loves rollersets
- A consistent regimen works
- I only have to comb my hair 1x per week
- I WILL MAKE APL & BSL !

  1. my hair loves oil and twists
  2. sleeping with a satin scarf at night does make a HUGE difference
  3. MOISTURE MOISTURE MOISTURE

My hair loves to be washed and deep conditioned every 3 days.
The right vitamins DO work.
Baggying/Protective styling is the bomb.
Protein treatments are very important (for me anyways).:p
Moisturizing must be done twice daily (for me anyways).
Never go to sleep without my silk scarf and bonnet on:p
Stretch relaxers to atleast 10 weeks(for me anyways).

I relax my own hair and if I go past 10 weeks it takes me longer
to put the relaxer in because of the ng which results to my hair
having little waves.

What have you learned or discovered about your hair this year (or any other) that will help keep you on track for healthy, fast growing hair for 2007?

**********************************************************
After trying Qhemet products I finally discovered that my hair does not like butters (shea, cocoa, etc) and thrives on this oil-cream based products.

That I can get to waist length (again if I wanted)...it's not a myth.
That I'm lazy when it comes to hair care and for MY sake and my hair's sake I should KIS(Sweetie).
That I don't need heat (Over 9 months heat freeeeeee)
That I need to stop pulling out my hair..literally. I need to keep out of my hair. Sigh!
That relaxers/chemicals are NOT my friends.
That my hair is still not a coconut oil lover and it's definitely not a shea butter fan.
That glycerine in high doses still tangle my hair.
That it does love castor oil, is in major love with avocado oil and still wants to be left alone :)
