Yes indeed!!
*Title sounds like a dishwashing liquid advertisement* :D
Anyway...I'm thinking of purchasing a wig to wear during the winter but I hate that damn glare!
Is there anyway to get rid of this? That reflection seems to scream out FAKKKKKEEEEEEEE!!!
Is there a product or technique to get rid of it?

I would like to know as well, for my drawstring ponytails, and I'm thinking about getting one of those instant weaves too. Any assistance would be appreciated!!

Hi Ladies,

I really dont wear wigs or weaves like that but one time, I saw my sister soaking her hair piece in vinegar and water. I asked her "what in the world are you doing" Her reply was "Making this hair piece look a little more real". Afterwards she just blowdried it.. Ive never tried this, but I guess its worth a shot ladies....

Thanks for the advice Lorraine!
Someone also told me that you can sprinkle and brush a little bit of baby powder through the wig. We'll see! :D

Baby powder really:confused:

Let us know how it turns out, take pics!!

I'm bumping this to see if anyone has come up with any other techniques to getting rid of the shine. Or if the baby powder or vinegar worked.

I have a friend that works in a beauty supply store and she has been wearing nothing but wigs for the last few years. She recommends this product call Yaky Professional Oil Free Shine.

You spray it on synthetic hair and it looks more natural. I use it on my phony ponies.

I agree with some of the other ladies. Sprinkle a little bit of baby powder and that should do it. My mom does it all the time.

maybe its the brand of wigs also....that you are looking at...i didnt notice that glare with the Freetress brand of wigs....and since my first one ive been in love...but i know what you mean i hate for a wig to look like a wig...and i think thats what stopped me in the past for a very long time from buying wigs and sticking with wearing them because they looked so fake and so much like a wig....

with this brand it was to the point that i even had my hairstylist thinking that i had gotten a sewin the other week when i came in to get my eyebrows arched and then last week when i went to get my hair done she was like so who did your sewin....

and my coworkers thought that i had gotten a sewin because they were asking me who did my hair...im like no its a wig....

i never applied or sprayed anything on my wigs....or soaked them in vinegar...or even sprinkled baby powder on them...

I heard to soak in vinegar for 15 minutes, then rinse.

I think I heard that here in the forum somewhere....
