THANKS FOR SHARING DETANGLING PROCESS

I tried to find the original thread that I got the advice from, but couldn't. So I made my own to say thanks to whoever shared that they did not detangle on wet hair. I guess it's not for everyone.

All the advice I had read about detangling in the shower wasn't working for me. I was losing hair hand over fist. I figured I was just doing something wrong. :wallbash: Then someone else complained about the same thing. In response, a poster stated that she combed only dry or damp hair. LIFE SAVER:grin: Reduce hair loss to less than a tenth of what it was. AND it takes all of about 15 minutes to shower and wash my hair. I had to use this method a few times just to make sure it was really working and not a one time thing. LOVE IT.

I part my dry hair in four braids, condition wash like before, but without detangling. When my hair is barely damp, I moisturize, do a little sealing, comb thru and plait it right back up to let it dry. I can now happily up my co-washing to at least every other day. So thanks to whoever gave this advice.

I don't detangle soaking wet hair either, I lose entirely too much. I also used to think I was doing something wrong. Then one day I got caught up in something while doing my hair and accidently let it dry for longer than normal. The combout was a breeze. Just more proof that everything does not work for everybody! HHG!

I have to very patiently fingercomb first, in the shower. Then i run a comb thru it to comb out the shedded hairs.

I applie leave-in and oils, then I lightly fingercomb again.

I don't throroughly fingercomb every day like above, but I probably should as my hair gets mad tangled.

wow, I'm gonna have to try this next time. I love to wash my hair, but have detangling. The detangling process scares me everytime for the fear of losing too much hair.

About how long do you let your hair dry before you moisturize, seal and detangle?

Yeah, I always detangle after towel-blotting my hair so that it feels damp and not soaking wet. I spray it with Dove Moisture Mist Leave-In if it feels a little too "dry" and detangle with a wide tooth comb. Detangling is a breeze, no matter how many weeks post.

How ironic this thread showed up! I thought I was doing something wrong in the shower to lose so much hair and I chalked it up to just serious breakage. However, last night I forgot to take the comb in the shower with me and didn't feel like going to get it. I cw'ed, blotted my hair, and proceeded to but my lotion on. By the time I did that my hair was slightly damp. I fingered combed/separated my hair and did my moisturizing and sealing and detangled in sections from the ends up. I was so  that there was less hair in the sink and comb. By the time I got to the crown of my head my hair was dry, so I just grabbed my spray bottle of water and gave a few sprays and I was back in business. I think this method will allow me to spend less time detangling for real! I will try it tomorrow also and see if it's still a breeze to do.

For me this has changed as my hair has grown, become less porous, etc. Play around with it and see what works best for you. Have a squirt bottle handy if it gets too dry.

I towel dry, add my NTM leave in and serum (smoothing down, so as not to tangle) and then let it dry hanging straight for at least 15 minutes. I then lightly spray with a detangler (Pantene or VO5 usually) and comb out. After its detangled I'll add any other products I'm going to use, comb through again and style.
