thank you, black hair experts

I was just in the bathroom looking at my hair and just thinking, wow. I have always been someone who struggled with my 4a, very coarse hair as a child being natural and pressed and as an adult with a perm. My hair only grew to mid back when I was pregnant, and after I had my son four years ago, it just went right back, even worse than it was before. I always flocked to hairdresser after hairdresser in an effort to find someone who could help my hair, but instead always ended up with a short cut and someone who would perm my hair for what seemed like an hour.

It has only been since I have found this site that my hair is finally turning into something I can be proud of. I have also hand picked a hairdresser that believes in most of the techniques that you ladies also suggest for my hair type, but I refuse to go into the shop that she works in to get my hair permed. That's the only time I see her. The rest of the time I just maintain my hair with the help of you guys. I now have a phobia about shops and will only go to her house to get my hair permed every three or four months.

All of this background to say thank you, thank you, thank you so much for lifting the stress off of me and helping me to take care of my hair. From the bottom of my heart, thank you lhcf. When I do post, which is not very often, but I am on all the time taking it all in and learning, I refer to you guys as the black hair experts and I truly do mean that. I don't know what I would do if this site shuts down. I've tried the other black hair forums but none of them feel as welcoming and sharing as this one. Thank you lhcf

:) Yes, this site is great. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have come as far as I have without the support of the board. I really didn't know what I was doing a few years ago.

I feel the exact same way about this board!! It's my home!!
