I notice that most ladies on the board that texturize do it with lye relaxers. I'm just wondering if there are any that do it with no-lye relaxers and if you do, which relaxer do you use and have you noticed any excess shedding or breakage? Thanks :)

bumping for you....
I use a lye so I can't help

Thanks, divine. BTW, your hair looks beautiful. :) I would use lye relaxers too if I could, but my hair just doesn't like them. I always end up with dry, frizzy, reddish-looking hair when I use them, no matter what brand or strength.

I have used a few "no-lye" texturizer before. The best one I used was "Soft & Beautiful". That one came pretty close to looking professional. My only problem with it was my hair dried out so easily; I don't have that problem with the lye texturizer I use currently.

By the way, I did not experience any shedding/breakage with Soft & Beautiful.

Hope this helps,
Precious Pup

I have only used Soft and Beautiful Botanicals and at first it was looking great until a few days after I started to experience dryness. The only other no lye texturizer that I saw in the store was African Pride and it was packaged in a box like Soft and Beautiful Botanicals.

Hi Cindy,

I use phyto Index II which I"ll be using for the foreseeable future because it is an excellent product. I do have comparably more breakage after relaxing which I remedy by using Nexxus Emergencee. The emergencee gets me right back to normal.
