After reaching MBL, it has become a stressful chore to wash my hair. I stopped looking forward to it. I must've tried all of my hair mentors regimens, their shampoos, conditioners/reconstructors/oils and to no avail I couldn't find a REAL solution to managing my hair while wet. My hair is probably 70% relaxed, I use Mizani (for fine and color treated hair mixed with EVOO)...
My hair is texlaxed, fine with a 4bcd....z texture. Very kinky to say the least, so when this routine I tried, resulted in MINIMAL shedding , BUTTER SOFTNESS, and EASY COMBING (5 min..or less) , I almost fell to my knees with tears of joy thanking God :notworthyfor blessing me with "the secret" to hair management. Now I know some of you have tried or are presently using these products, but if you try these products in this particular order, it will work WONDERS! Especially if you use ayurveda products. This is my new hair regimen "FOREVER" :
- 50/50 amla/shikakai oil on scalp and hair night before
- Mixed 1/4 tbsp Maca pwdr, 1/4 tbsp shikakai, 1/2 tbsp amla pwdr in tall plastic cup (Prepare w hot/warm water b4 entering the shower....of course)
- 1st Rinse hair thoroughly with hot/warm water
- Pour ayurveda pwdrs on hair (root to tip - important - Must pour mixture on ends for strength) - pin up for a few minutes, Rinse
- 1tsp Vatika henna cream conditioning shampoo in plastic cup/w water mixture - only clean/massage scalp, squeeze ends - trying not to tangle...Rinse...REPEAT (this helps get the powders out)
- Fill 1 gallon container w 1 tbsp baking soda and HOT/WARM water (shake mixture)- massage scalp again RINSE ( Prepare this b4 you enter the shower to take into the shower w you) this helps remove excess shampoo residue (I have flaky scalp and this also helps get more of the residue powders out)
Condition with ORS Replenishing Conditioner (Root to tip) - RINSE with COOL WATER.
OPTIONAL - Dime amount of favorite Serum on ends
- 50/50 Regular Infusium 23/water mixture Spray bottle - leave in
Then comb and style as usual
Now this regimen has a couple of things going on here...it contains a good bit of oil, mainly because the powders can and WILL harden your hair , but the shampoo and conditioner have softening qualities and ability. I've used all of these products before separately but NEVER together and have NOT achieved these results I'm sharing w you today. SO I believe that together they create a beautiful harmonius reaction.
I achieved the strength I wanted with the ayurveda powders and the moisturizing I need with the Vatika shampoo and ORS Replenishing Cond. I even added a lil more protein with the 50/50 infusium/water leave-in before combing. I NEVER comb in the shower....only after I apply my leave-ins, and combed this out in maybe 5 or 6 sections at a time like my hair was relaxed BONE STRAIGHT. My scalp feels like it is on CLOUD 99. I'm throwing all of my other products away, oh and ofcourse I'll be making sure I clarify with my IC Pure Tea shampoo monthly, and doing my overnight henna treatments monthly too to cover any grays.
I am now confident that I will be able to reach waistlength THIS YEAR STRESS-FREE!!!!.....thank God, because wash days used to take me down something terrible!
I hope this information can make your wash days pleasant from here on out, mine will be..... I love my hair again!
