Texlaxed Hair, excessive shedding when wet?

Whenever I wash/condition, cowash my hair, I feel like I lose an abnormal amount of hair. Basically only when it it wet/damp. I've noticed even more recently because I've been taking swimming lessons and cowash frequently and I feel a difference in the thickness of my hair.

I think it may be because of the texture of my wet hair, my strands are more likely to wrap around each other and pull each other out (if that makes sense)?

I've tried blowdrying after cowashing and it helped, but I can't do that every time I wash. And there isn't much I can do when I moisturize. Anyone else with this problem or any suggestions? I think I may end up relaxing my hair straight.

Not much on the outside should affect shedding. If its the texture causing it maybe there is breakage hiding with the shed hairs. Most causes of abnormal shedding are internal or at least on the scalp.

SSKs and so on could be bothering you if your hair breaks more with texture.
Also, please remember that hair is weaker and sheds/breaks more when wet. How is your shedding when airdried? It could just be because your hair is wet.

From the decrease in volume it could be internal, (and blowdrying only masks the issue) in that case make sure you're balanced internally and check for and stressors that could affect your hairs growth and shed phases.

I used to use a bunch of hair if I combed the conditioner through my hair. When I started massaging the conditioner on the hair and detangling after rinsing, I kept more strands.

I experience shedding everytime I cowash which was twice a week. I have cut back on the amount of times I cowash and baggy to get moisture instead and I only comb (lightly) 2-3 times a week & detangle once a week.
