OMG you ladies are Mizani crazy lol! i never knew that this relaxer was soo popular here, what happned to Phyto? i'm going to look into this and see if i can get mizani in England, it is a reasonable priced relaxer? and do they have the lye formula? does it burn the scalp?

I thought you were transitioning? Well....whatever you decide we have your back ;)

I hear Phyto is good and DE is loved and now ORS olive oil. I'm eyeing up all 3 right now
Yeah...but you know..right now natural aint for me....maybe a couple years down the line i'll go natural. thanks for the recommendations.

I found the Mizani Regular harsh form my scalp. Within 8 minutes I was feeling it. I didn't last past the 13 minute mark. I think I washed it out in 10 so I was underprocessed. I suggest you get the mild if you go with Mizani. If I stick with it..I would go with the mild. My hair was soft after it was used on me in the salon...a little too flat but soft and manageable.

Thanks for informing me!!1 i already have a super sensitive scalp and suffered terrible burns from each texturizer touch-up.

*Mizani Sensitive Scalp Formula

*Profectives No Lye Anti-Damage Relaxer. (just recently relaxed with this, and I love it!)

Another Mizani lover here. I love this relaxer, love it! If you are prone to burns maybe mild would be better for you. I used the normal stregnth and I didn't burn at all and I ususally do. I based really, really good first so maybe that's why I didn't burn.

Then DEFINETLY stay away from the Mizani Regular. Amybe try the one for the sensitive scalp.

I use Phyto index 2. I do love it and will use it until I decide I'm through relaxing. Its on the expensive side though. If you choose phyto you may want to use index 1 to texlax because index 2 is a bit stronger and can make your hair a bit more straighter.

I really believe it depends on what you want. Some people use lye with no problems (I can't) some people use no-lye with no problems (with my crazy head it depends on the ingredients)

The only thing holding me back from trying Phyto is the size of the neutralizer. I keep reading posts about how it took forever to rinse and my fear is..is it enough really?

 You have no idea how much I (and probably others) can appreciate you being honest enough to say that. I know there are naturals on this board struggling somethin' awful...and it's ok if they enjoy the struggle, but some of them should probably come to the realization that you did. I feel the same way about folks w/ relaxed hair who need to let it go, but can't. Either way, it's always refreshing to see someone come to terms with their own reality.

And um, I can't really make a relaxer rec right now b/c it's been forever since I've had one, and when I did, it was awful. So my only advice would be to avoid Motions at all costs.

Aww thank you for all your kind support, being honest is the best policy for me, i'm am very comfortable with my decsision, and i'm happy with the progress i made with strecthing my texturizer this far, the last 4 months have been the best and i really love my progress with my diet/healthy hair supplement plan. wish me luck

Yeah, but does the no-lye dry the hair out a lot.
Nowadays with decalcifying shampoos and chelating shampoos...I don't think dry hair from calcium build up is much of a worry. Is it?? I'm thinking of going no lye.

Den 1, My beautician finally said yes to putting relaxer in my now 10 yr olds hair. She said she was gonna use Motions for kids, but when she started I noticed she was gonna use Affirm and I asked why she putting grown folks relaxer in her hair ,well she said it had lye in it and was better for the hair than the other one and wouldn't burn her scalp( said she didn't want her first time getting a relaxer to be a horrible experience of burning) I let her do it cause I do trust her judgement and she is about healthy hair, anyway she didn't burn nor did she have any shedding. She only will do 2 retouches a yr and never has my baby or I had a bad experience w/ Affirm even when I do it myself. She's been relaxed about 2yrs. there is a dry and sensitive scalp formula. After you rinse relaxer you put their 5 in1 conditioner on for 5 mins, rinse than neutralize.

An old beautician used Mizani on my hair and it was good I'm not sure which strength.

Good Luck w/ which ever you chose. OMG when you do relax it'll be soooo long that you'll probably be sitting on it.lol
