how do you know or can you tell it is time for a touchup, I did my 1st one in sept 06, I am currently 15 weeks post, I have newgrowth however it blends so well, that I feel like I can go 6 months before I touchup, I believe I grow, 1/2 inch per mo, any ideas,by the way I wear cornrows currently with a half wig, I redo them weekly,

i wait untill it is really fuzzy at the top when it is wet... it usually takes me about 6 months to get there. maybe you could try to stretch this time and see

I agree with both of these ladies. My hair is in this stage now but I'm trying to save up for a phyto!

thanks ladies just what I wanted to hear, I think I will try to touchup 2 times this year, last year I did 3 times, prior to that I was relaxed 8 times, and no shedding thus far, :)

I can feel and see my newgrowth. After touch-ups, I mark in my calendar when 13 weeks are up and know it's time (sometimes I wait a little longer).

My newgrowth is HARD compared to my texlaxed hair. I can always tell the difference. Plus the coils/waves are smaller and looser.

I cant even get my fingers through my new growth coming up on touch up time let alone make a part. I only touch up twice a year so it gets THICK! and tight. It's easy to tell the difference.

I think you should touch-up when your new growth stops blending well or when your hair begins to break off from the strain of the difference in textures. If I am not experiencing either of those problems, I can continue stretching.

but if you are texurized for the frizzies...wouldn't it be hard to tell the difference between the 2 textures?

I usually will wait 6 months before I relax. Because I like to see alot of new growth before I apply another relaxer. 6 to 8 weeks is not enough time for me.
