My hair has been really tangled lately. I am a bit worried because i hear snapping sounds while combing/attempting to detangle my hair. This has never happened to me before. My flat ironed hair will be tangled by the end of the day and I am always scared to comb it out. finger combing isn't enough. I gained 2+ inches this summer (a lot for me) and my hair is the longest it has been in years... I'm wondering if my long(er) hair is the reason why my hair is so tangled... If that makes any sense...

Yeah well, I just wanted to ask if this happens to anyone else and how do you avoid breakage. I have Mane and Tail's detangler and that doesn't help as much as it used to.

I have a few questions for you:

What are you using to keep your ends moisturized, and how often are you moisturizing?

What shape are your ends in? Are they damaged, uneven? Do you have any breakage?

Do you comb your hair out well before you flat-iron?

Are you protecting your ends or do you typically wear your hair down when it's been flat ironed?

Kristen, as I was previewing your thread--I was planning to come in and ask if you'd gained any length lately. But when I opened your thread, I see that you did. That's a good thing and YES the tangles come with the length. When you wear your hair down and it's long, you will inevitably get tangles throughout the day. This is another reason that protective styles really are good.

When you do wear your hair down and straight, at the end of the day you will need to carefully detangle your hair from the ends up in about 5 to 10 sections. It is tedious, but necessary to save your strands. If you do it correctly, it should take you a little bit of time.

Have fun and let us know if you need more answers on this.

Oh and using a light weight silicone serum can help you with your detangling. They key is to use one that is pretty light. Also, a spray oil sheen may help with detangling.

ITA! The longer my hair gets, the easier it tangles.

BTW, Kristen, congrats on the hair growth! :-D

I have a few questions for you:

What are you using to keep your ends moisturized, and how often are you moisturizing? ***I use Profectiv's Healthy Ends about 2-4 times a week. I used to baggie all the time... but not so much, since i started college :ohwell:

What shape are your ends in? Are they damaged, uneven? Do you have any breakage? ***I recently got a trim so they're in good shape

Do you comb your hair out well before you flat-iron? ***I seem to have a hard time, to be honest

Are you protecting your ends or do you typically wear your hair down when it's been flat ironed? ***i like to wear my hair down as much as possible
