Talk me out of it!

I've been transitioning now for 1 year and 2 months, but now... I'm thinking of relaxing! It seemed so easy to take care of my hair then, and it doesn't help that everyone I know is encouraging me to get one. Then i saw a thread for ORS lye relaxer and one for Mizani butter blends, and I'm really thinking of trying one.

So please remind me of the benefits of natural hair. And how i can keep it moisterized.

Or tell me me which is better: ORS or Mizani?

TIA

DON'T DO IT!!!!

Embracing your natural hair is like finding a lost part of yourself - hang in there, I know it's tough! I've been chemical free for 2 years and 3 months. It will get better :yep:

You've gone so far, I would hate for you not to at least experience being all natural before making your decision.

Good Luck with whatever you decide. I'm sure your hair would be beautiful regardless!!

Finish what you started , then you can feel confident in your final choice.

Natural hair appears to be thicker
Natural hair can go straight or curly
cheaper to maintain
water/snow/rain are your friends...not just acquaintances:lachen:

Go with your heart it always knows...either way..you will make it work:grin:

Although I'm relaxed, I'm going through withdrals too.... From weave. All of my life I had weave in my hair and it was so convenient to have long hair at my fingertips. But I had to stop because my hair was suffering. So anywho, I (kinda) feel what you're going through. You've been natural for over a year, look at all of the progress you've made. How much healthier it is. How beautifully curly and versatile it is. I think you should write out the pros and cons of each and figure out which s best for you, but I say DON'T DO IT! :D

HANG IN THERE KIDDO I THINK THAT U HAVE COME REAL FAR A WHOLE YEAR AND TWO MONTHS, AND U CAN ALWAYS PRESS OR FLAT IRON FOR THE STRAIGHT LOOK. UR PROBABLY JUST TIRED OF STYLING UR HAIR SO TRY SOME PROTECTIVE STYLING BRAIDS OR TWIST, SO U WONT BE THINKING ABOUT IT ALL THE TIME. GOOD LUCK

I really love ORS Regular lye relaxer. It is moisturizing and always leaves my hair feeling soft and silky. I haven't tried the Mizani Butter Blend relaxer but plan to on my next touch-up. If you do a search, you'll find some good reviews on that relaxer. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Cosigning!!!!!!! :yep::up: :yep::up:

Well I'm natural but just bought a HUGE tub of Mizani for $20 :) I intend to texlax - eventually. At the moment I have my hair hidden away in a full weave which has prevented me from doing all sorts of things to it, colour, cut and or texlax. So if you're resistance is getting futile:look: braid or weave it up so you can forget about it. Remember with natural hair you can get your hair straight but its not as easy to get the bounce fullness and thickness back (your reasons for going natural?). On the other hand there are loads of gorgeous relaxed heads around. When in doubt I say weave it up or go hang out at some of the millitant natural sites they'll keep u in check  .

I was just where you were but after noticing increased breakage due to transitioning and couldn't come find the courage to BC, I decided to relax. I relaxed with ORS lye regular and loved it.

See, I decided to transition because I didn't like how my relaxed hair felt (thin and always breaking). From being on this board, I've found out that I was doing so many things wrong and that's why my hair thin and breaking. There is a wealth of information here how to care for relaxed hair so you should be ok if you decide not to transition any longer.

Good luck with whatever decision you make.

Remember that every touch up is a possible set back waiting to happen (bad reaction, over proccessing, under processing etc.).

There are successful relaxed heads through out the site, but every now and then you see the heartbreaking set back threads.

Just a thought for a reason to stay natural.

Both natural and relaxed have there pros and cons depending on what you're trying to accomplish.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I have to ask you why did u start transitioning in the first place? Never let others influence your decision to go natural. Of course they will tell you to relax your hair. Good luck in your decision.
