Tail setting - how often

Hi Ladies,

I 've recently started to ponytail set my hair and wondered if there was such a thing as rollersetting/tail setting too often.

Currently I tail set once a week (tried several times to do traditional rollersets but never got to grips with it) and am thinking about bumping that up to twice a week with one day (probably Wednesdays) being co wash and tail set day and then the other day (probably Sundays) being deep condition and co wash.

Does anyone tail set more than once a week? Just want to know whether it's healthy and safe for hair to do this often.

TIA

I would say be careful. For me tail setting puts a lot of stress on my roots, plus the heat (even if it is indirect heat) worries me. I would only do it 1x per wk.

What is tail setting? Is that where you do one big bun w/your hair wrapped around (like a big bantu knot) and you get curls/waves when you take down. If so, that is my ultimate goal (to be able to tail set on long hair)-- and to do it once per week is perfect.

virtuenow This is a ponytail rollerset:

I love ponytail roller sets (haven't done one in a while though). I wouldn't do it more than once a week though (don't think I would have a need to).

Hi ladies, thanks for all your responses.

NappyNelle - yes it was a ponytail rollerset I was talking about and yours looks very nice and neat - much better than how I do it.

Divachyk - thanks for the thread link - I'll have to check that out later

Mz. MoMo 5235/Allandra - thanks for your responses. That was one of the things I was afraid of, the possible stress on my roots so I think for now I'll just continue to do it once a week and maybe forget about the cowashing mid week.

You ladies are awesome! I knew you'd be able to help me with my dilemma :-)

You're welcome. IMO, if you're on top of moisturizing your hair and doing deep conditions, there's no need for co-washing mid week.
