Swimmers... how do you protect your hair from chlorine damage?

Hi there everyone! :hiya:
I haven't posted on here for a VERY long time. Good to be back though :)!

I've just started swimming lessons (finally!) and was just wondering how the swimmers among you protect your hair from the chlorine.
I have invested in quite an expensive swimming cap, however the edges of my hair still get wet.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Look at these two links...

There was a long thread on this topic started exactly one month ago: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=611571

And as you'll see by the end of my experimentation, I found I don't need to apply anything to my hair before swimming, except Vaseline at the nape. Saran wrap and My Swim Cap is all I need. They keep the water out completely and my hair comes out dry except for the tiny hairs at my nape, which is why I apply Vaseline there.

How long can you wait before co-washing cause I was at the beach the waves knocked me down and soaked my hair and I have an hour drive back home

You should be fine as long as you don't sleep on it.

I don't own a swim cap. I just wash out the chlorine or seawater and I'm good. I've never had any damage to my hair from swimming.
