Wel, I'm slowly trying to reintroduce Surge to my regimen. But when I spray it on my scalp, my new growth just like magic curls up. Does this happen with anyone else?

Yes. Since I'm wearing my hair in either an phony pony or a braid out, it doesn't matter too much. If I were wearing my hair down however, I'm not sure what I would do.

Yes, my roots curl up with Surge. I only use surge when in a protective style like a phony. I haven't been using with my hair out except right after washing/before drying.

Melodee, do you wrap your hair? Even when I do my roots are still a bit wavy. It's buns all week for me.

Lorraine, sometimes I wrap and sometimes I make two braids and pin them up. I have about an inch of growth (six weeks worth)that I can smooth out with coconut oil, but when I spray that Surge on my airdried hair, the roots go "poof".

Yes this happens to me,too. Water plus the protein will do this to the hair.

Good question Sweetnic. I think the jury's still out. I mean, some people are experiencing success with it and some just aren't. On my head, only the new groth reverts and there is definetely a line of demarcation.

See for me, the Surge just made my new growth, much, much stronger and thicker than the relaxed hair and since my relaxed hair is pretty thin, I had a lot of breakage.

I started using Surge for my nape area. For me it is new growth because that area is no longer breaking off and the new growth coming in is thicker and healthier. I don't experience the reversion (I just got a touch up 3/13/04). I always stop using before and one week after a re touch. I just started back this week and I haven't had a problem.

I use surge when I get my hair spiral curled with the fexi rods. As soon as I use it my new growth gets really rough, but I just washed my hair and didn't use any of the surge and I can tell that my hair has grown about an inch or more. I tried to do the rod set myself, but I can't seem to comb my hair when it is wet and I need a touch-up. It has been about 8 weeks and it seems like the only hair style I can use the surge with is my spiral set because you can't really see the new growth. by the way I am new to the site, so hi ladies

Hi, short, and welcome to our happy group. I been using Surge for my thinning hairline and nape for about a week. I don't even worry about the reverting that comes from using it on a nightly basis. I often either braid my hair or put it in twists, like close to the scalp and not so tight, then I mist my scalp with it. Then it's moisturizing the scalp with EVOO or oil mix, because the scalp and hair would be drying from Surge misting. And when I take it loose, my hair would be filled with waves and no tell-tell new growth. Wow! BTW, what side of Chi-Town are you from?
