I plan to start going to a professional hair-stylist. Just in case he/she asks for my preference, do any of you know of some good ones?

Thanks!

I would use something mild.
I've heard Sengchick and SherryLove rave about PhytoSpecific's PhytoRelaxer. Sengchick is texturized and I think she uses Index 1. If I don't transition, I'll probably switch over to that one. That is a no-lye formula. I also heard good things about Arosci's lye texturizer. I've been using Creme of Nature's HerbaRich (no-lye) for quite a few years now but it's not that easy to find.

Yeah, I'm the official Phyto Chick.... maybe I should change my name.

Anyhoo, Tai is right I have a PhytoSpecific Index 1. Most salons don't carry the line, it's kinda on the expensive end, but I did find one. Affirm is another one used widely here.
