I was just wondering if anyone can recommend a very strong detangler!!

Do I have to try to get a professional stylist to sell me one :) or is there a high-end one that works well??

Thanks!!

1st off...Your hair is
Okay....I have used several detanglers (leave-ins), but some of my favorites are giovanni direct leave in, rusk smoothers & elucence MB. All 3 cause the tangles to melt away...like magic! HTH

LOL.. Thanks Dionne, That is my hair on a good day, of which I don't have very many!! LOL

I will definitely take a look at those products, thanks!!

The best detangler for me is using the right conditioners, for example Kenra and Motions Moisture Plus. A really good realy cheap one is Dark And Lovely Cholesteral for like 3.99 at Sallys.

I would have to say a little rinse-out moisturizing conditioner and water pressure from your shower head :) . Otherwise, if you want a leave in, Salerm 21 hasn't let me down yet!!!

Deep conditioning with Aubrey's Honeysuckle Rose or White Camellia conditioners works well.

Also I am really impressed with Kids Organics Shea Butter Detangler lotion.

Do you guys let the detangler sit on your hair a little before you comb?

I normally don't. As soon as the giovanni or the rusk touch my hair it instantly melts the tangles away.

yes I spray on my detangler and let it sit while I am getting my pajamas on by then I can comb and detangle (from ends of hair up to the roots).

Gioviant direct, trust me, my hair use to mat when wet, now the comb effortlessly glides through!

Big cosign. I might do this today for the hell of it.

After the Dominicans wash my hair, they detangle/comb thru it with the Nacidit or Capile Aceit de Olive Rinse. The wide-toothed comb glides thru it like silk. Afterward they put in the Avacado Cream Cholesterol (DC) and i sit under heat and so forth....

Do they rinse out the rinse before they put on the cholesterol?? Interesting

Kinikakes your hair is beautiful!! Could you post the whole regimen of what the Dominicans use on your head, etc..??

I have had soooo many people tell me that is who should be taking care of my hair because of my hair type..

And do they perm you as well??

Hey guys! Sorry for taking so long to come back w/a response. I'd forgotten i posted in this thread.

Yes, the Dominicans do give me my relaxer. I use a mild, no lye, gentle treatment relaxer by Johnson & Company. Not sure if this can be found at the BSS or if its a salon relaxer only. But my hair loves it!

In terms of the detangler:

At the salon, they first wash your hair (twice) with the Aceite de Olive shampoo. They work up a good lather and use those strong, nimble fingers to really cleanse the scalp. Love this part!!! It feels so good.

Once the hair is clean, they then slather on a GOOD amount of the Aceite de Olive rinse. Only once the hair is saturated with this thick, creamy rinse do they use the wide-toothed comb to start the detangling process. While they are combing, they are streaming the water thru the hair, which also helps to detangle. For most women, this is very easy and takes just a couple of minutes (the rinse is THAT effective!) However, i dont comb my hair during the week, so its extra tangled..... and then when i Henna and come in, god forbid, its ridiculously tangled/matted. BUT with the Aceite de Olive rinse they are able to comb thru it relatively easily.... it just takes a couple more minutes.

At this point, once the hair is detangled, they use the water nozzle to wash the rinse out. Once the rinse is completely out of the hair, they follow up with the DC of your choice. I usually choose the Avocado Cholesterol Cream conditioner. Its this thick, yummy, creamy green conditioner. They lather this throughout the hair, pile my hair atop my head, put a plastic cap on me and sit me under the drier. I stay under there for about 15 minutes, then come out. They rinse me, and use the wide toothed comb once more to comb thru my hair. But by this time, the hair is like SILK and the comb glides thru it effortlessly.

THroughout this process, i lose minimal hair and i dont feel like they are pulling or yanking on me at ALL. Its a very positive experience, and most of the stylists are equally adept at detangling with ease.

I am cosigning on the Motions Moisture Plus. After Deep Conditioning I NEVER have ANY tangles. I just use leave in's for mosture but it's not a necessity for detangling.

Wow, thanks for sharing KiniKakes. I kinda do that too in my regimen and it works! I like to use Garnier Length & Strength mixed with Paul Mitchell The Detangler after shampooing so I can comb and detangle under the shower stream.

Last night I tried Mane & Tail detangling spray on dry hair and the tangles just melted away, I really like it!

I wanted to add a new contestant. Queen Helene Cholesterol. I am almost 6 weeks post and this stuff melted my tangles away in less than 10 mins. I am in heaven

For this stretch (13 weeks) I noticed I had to do a ACV rinse in order to get my tangles out and my roots smooth.

For me I feel the best detangler hands down is Paul mitchells THE DETANGLER.Its a little pricey but well well worth it.All u need it a little bit so it lasts all year long. When I stretch my touch-ups my hair gets really tangled:mad:,so i was on a desperate hunt for a good detangler and heard about this stuff...its the bomb for real.:D

I have totally different hair than you (4b/coarse/thick/some super relaxers do not straighten my hair), BUT I must co-sign on the Nacidit Avocado Cream Conditioner and Rinse. I am eight weeks post relaxer, and this combination of products makes my hair manageable. I would love to use it today, but I need to do a mild protein in preparation for my touch-up next week.
