Stretching relaxer and special occasions..

Hey ladies

I'm wondering does anyone break their relaxer stretches for a special occasion? I planned on stretching for at least 12 weeks but next week is DH birthday and we have a few things planned and of course I want my hair to look right. If I relax next week I would be 8 weeks post. Maybe I can just flatiron..:perplexed but when I flatiron it looks good for about 5 minutes then it looks a hot mess:ohwell: How do you ladies handle a situation like this? Thanks

It all depends on the occasion for me. I try to schedule my relaxer closer to a certain occasion. Like my sister is having a big b'day bash so I will have a half wig on because I get married the next month and I will definitely relax for that. So I guess it depends on how long it has been since ur last relaxer and how important the occasion is to u! In ur situation I probably would go ahead and relax and just stretch longer the next time. HTH!

Girl, I don't know, I just put my hair in a bun and go, but in your case, if you could try to flat iron and keep it wrapped, it would keep it flat for a while......see I don't have SO in my life, so the only special occassions I have it my child's birthday......cuz my college graduation is in another 4 years, so I don't know, but if you feel that you need to get a touch up, then get one. Do what you feel it good for your hair....8 weeks isn't bad IMO. HTH.

For pic. heavy special occasions I just do my hair. I don't like to be in pics with weaves, wigs or ponytails with 4 inches of new growth.

Don't do that....go to the salon and blow out your roots...If you are near a dominican salon they are good with that...i went like 14 weeks last time and you couldnt tell.

No, I usually don't interrupt my stretches. If I have a special event to attend and I have lots of new growth, I just do a twistout, which blends the two textures. I touchup only 4 times a year (every 3 months), and I am really strict with that limit.

I agree with who I thanked. Just get a Dominican blow out and call it a day. You will look like you just got a perm for 2 weeks str8 if you wrap/take care of it properly.

Okay. OP, I was wondering the same thing since I am throwing a b-day party for my dd this weekend. I though about breaking out my ceramic iron and going to town on my roots ( I am six weeks post) but I definitely am trying to keep the "hot irons" out of my hair. I have been rollersetting but I want my roots to look straighter and more relaxed than what they are. How exactly do you blow dry your roots? Blowdryer with curling brush? Comb attached to blowdryer?

I and most ppl go to a Dominican salon to get it done. There are a couple of tutorials floating around that show how to DIY if you search the site/google/youtube. Sry I don't remember them.

Thanks for the replies ladies. Why didn't I think of going to the salon and get a blow out...I haven't been to a salon in over a year. I just might do that. I really don't want to break my stretch.

A Dominican salon in Arkansas? Lol!!!! I guess to the bathroom I go and pull out ol' faithful and start blowfrying my roots. Thanks for the reply.
