Will someone tell me step by step how to do a strand test? I looked it up here and no where does it tell me how it just says to do one prior to relaxing. I also googled and bing it. I know some are thinking this is a silly question but I thought I should asking before doing my relaxer so I wont have a set back.

In case the link does not get you to the direct page, I typed it out for you. I googled "how to do a strand test for relaxers" and selected the link for African Caribbean hairdressing. I hope it helps:

Taken from African-Caribbean Hairdressing by Sandra Gittens

- isolate and pretreat a small section of hair; this section should be taken from the nape area or where the hair is more resistant and should not be wider than half an inch
- use section clips to clip surrounding hair away
- cover clipped hair to make sure no chemical relaxer gets into contact with it
- apply selected strength to the test section
- smooth and check strand every 3 minutes; observe hair continuously
- when the hair is sufficiently relaxed, rinse off the chemical thoroughly and apply neutralizer
- if the hair is in good condition, you can apply the relaxer within 4 to 7 days
- remember to omit the strand that has been previously relaxed during the strand test

Thanks for being the only one to respond. I am starting to think people like to do drive bys but wont stop to help. Anyway thanks again cause I thought I needed to use some shed hair relax it and see how long it takes to get straight. Appreciate your assistance in helping me avoid a setback.

Anytime, SS! I thought you would get more responses as well and I was typing as fast as I could. If you need any assistance in the future, you can drop me a pm and I will help to the best of my abilities.
