Straightening Shampoos and Conditioners

How do they work? Does it temporarily loosen the curl/wave?I am thinking about purchasing them when I flat iron my hair again - in June. I was considering the products by Ion at Sally's. Has anyone used these or any other kind of straightening shampoos or conditioners?

I used L'anza Strait Line & I didn't like it. My new growth wasn't any straighter. I've heard good things about the Ion Straightening shampoo. Maybe I'll try that one next.

This may not be relevant or what you asked for, but im curious anyway..isnt sodium hydroxide a relaxer ingredient?? Why is it in CON, is this the possible reason why it gives such good slip?
