straight ends and Kinky Curly Curling custard

So I have tried using the Kinky curly styling custard about three times now and everytime I can't get it to look right because of my straight ends. Now, I know what you all are thinking, "You need to be completely natural for it too look good."

Well I am in fact, completely natural. I've been natural for quit sometime now. But for some reason some sections of my hair still have straight ends. I thought that maybe I still had a bit relaxer left over on my ends so I cut my hair a little more sometime in June/JUly after I completed my transition in May to no avail. I've tried rolling my ends so they could look uniform with the rest of my hair when using KCCC but it hasn't worked.

I just don't get why my much of my ends are straight. I do wear my hair in a sock/doughnut bun on nearly a daily basis. Is it possible that i guess stretching my ends over the doughnut has made my ends permanently straight? Or is that just not possible? Or maybe my hair just grows that way. :perplexed

It's just so disappointing after looking forward to it for so long that the product just doesn't work with me.Doesn't anyone else have this problem? Any tips or suggestions would be great on how to fix this would be great. I really want curly ends so I rock that KCCC with style.

Are you using anything with the KCCC or just straight. I tried KCCC years ago before I heard about this board. I had the same issue, my ends were straight. After I found this board I learned a lot of people use it with a leave in conditioner. Once I started using the leave in I no longer had this problem. I use all kind of leave in conditioners, not just the Knot Today.

Good luck.

Hmmm.. I was just going to buy this from Tarjay.. so it doesn't work well straight ends.. what about if you bantu knot it? My ends are straight.. but I usually just do a flexi rod or bantu and pin it to get the little spiral...

Did you try scrunching your ends? or maybe coil it around your finger, hold for a min and release? When I use too much KCCC it tends to make my ends straight and wiry looking.

I Don't use anything with the KCCC other than their Knot Today. Is there any leave in conditioner that you suggest I use with it?

I tried doing a bantu knot at the end to know avail. I haven't used the flexi rod though to the spirals. I have a bunch of those too. I will most likely try it that way next time.

Do you use heat at all?

The only heat I use is a heating cap or hooded dryers for my dc. I got my hair flat ironed twice maybe this year so I doubt that heat could be the reason for my straight ends. Or maybe it could...

Actually, now that I think about it I do use alot of product. Maybe I need to lessen the amount on my ends. The end result is definitely a straight wiry look like you described. I have tried twirling it around my finger though and that hasn't worked well. I haven't tried scrunching it. I might actually give that a try next time.

I use the sally's knock of version of paul mitchell the conditioner. It's part of the sally's GVP line. But any leave in will do. I just like thicker leave in than Knot Today.

Yeah you might be using too much KCCC. You only need a little and I say little, I mean little. Obviously, depending on the length of you hair. I use only about a quarter size on my entire head.

Does it only end up straight with the KCCC? Does it curl up when damp? I used to have a problem with straight ends but it quickly went away after using Aphogee. I think I was heat damaged.

I have a twa and have the same issue. I thought it was just me. It reminds me of a baby's hair when it's curly at the root then kind of fly away right above it.
