Still on the fence?

Anybody else in my shoes?

I'm about 5 months post relaxer - and all of the BCs this summer definitely inspire me. And taking a look at the naturals who press is more than tempting. Buuuuut - I also love straight hair and the ease that a relaxed hairstyle can bring.

At this point, I can still successfully manage both textures, but I can only hold out a little longer.

EEEk! I can't decide --- stay on the transitioning train or hop the relaxer bus? Anybody else with me?

I had my last relaxer in February and my SIL is giving me grief about my two textures. I'm going to protective styles through the end of summer then go all natural October 1.

I was distressed about not really being able to get it straight for a neat pony until I tried the baking soda and cheap conditioner combo this past Friday. I air dryed and flat ironed last night and now I can't keep my hands out of my head. My nape is as straight as if I had a chemical relaxer so I know now that I can make it to October with no problem.

i'm definitely on the same boat!

i love the texture of my new growth, but i had first hand experience of flat-ironing 4a tightly coiled natural hair this weekend, and it was rough!!! i can see myself going natural if i never straightened it, but i want to wear it straight all the time, so i don't know!

Hey Ladies,

I know exactly what you mean. I am also 5 months post relaxer and the two textures are a challenge for me as well.

I am a newbie and need all the help I can get. Infojunkie can you explain what is the baking soda and cheap conditioner combo for me?

I am liking my new growth texture and I encourage you ladies to continue transitioning. We can do it!! :spinning:

Hair type
4a I think?

This is going to be long, so I apologize, lol. When I stretched, it didn't even cross my mind to go natural. Like many of you, the more new growth I felt and saw, the more I fell in love with my natural texture. More importantly, the more curious I started getting about transitioning. It was a decision that took a lot of time, research, and introspection. I had to wrap my head around the fact that my family wasn't going to like my decision; that my profession (while they wouldn't come right out and say that they didn't like it) wouldn't like my decision; that I was going to look different with short natural hair; that I had to totally and completely learn from scratch (because as a child I never did my own hair when it was natural), how to properly care for my hair. To make a long story short, I thought long and hard about this journey and felt that it was the right time for me to take it; I am so glad that I did, and I do not regret my decision. I wouldn't have made the same decision a year ago, because I know I wouldn't have been ready at that time. Don't jump on the BC bandwagon unless you are ready. Enjoy stretching until you feel like you are prepared to make the decision to transition. Hope this makes sense:grin:
