Can someone list the proper steps? I just got it for the first time and want to make sure my stylist was on point? Are they supposed to apply the 5 in 1 before neutralizing? How long is it supposed to sit? Also, is this the conditioning step, only in reverse or should they condition after neutralizing too? TIA!

That's how my stylist does it. First she relax with Affirm Fiberguard, then she rinses it out. After that she leaves 5 & 1 in my hair for about 5 minutes & then uses a neutralizing poo. The last is a deep condition.

Here are the 5 n 1 instructions:

AS STEP 3 OF AFFIRM RELAXER SYSTEM: Use immediately after rinsing creme relaxer from hair and leave on for 5 minutes.

AS RECONSTRUCTOR TRMT: Apply liberally after shampooing. Cover hair with plastic cap and leave on for 30 minutes.

IMO, the hair should also be conditioned again, after the neutralizing poo. I normally follow it with Kera Care Humecto.

thx spanish! My stylist didnt condition after neutralizing although she did prior to it. I just wanted to make sure it was right! I think it costs more for a deep conditioning after so I guess thats why she didnt do it afterwards. I think it was enough conditioning though bc my hair is holding up well.

I have it and like it. Me and the 5-in-1 didn't like each other.

So I bought this to try it out and I think it works really well. It also works well as a deep moisturizing conditioner too. Supergirl uses it as well I beleive.

Anyone know if I could use the Preservo Chemical Block as a deep conditioner after the neutralizing shampoo?

That is what I would like to during my Affirm Fiberguard Lye (Mild) application.

Affirm 5 in 1 Reconstuctor is For Damaged or Fine, Limp Hair

Affirm Positive Link Conditioner is For Medium to Coarse Hair

Both of the above are used immediately after the relaxer is rinsed.

ChiChi, I don't know if the Preservo can act as a deep conditioner. It's supposed to block chemicals on previously relaxed hair and condition at the same time.

The bottle states the following:
Apply a small amount of Preservo only to the ends and previously relaxed portions of hair. As you apply, section hair with your fingertips to ensure adequate coverage throughout. Take care not to over-wet hair. Avoid contact with newgrowth as this will inhibit the straightening action of the relaxer.

i thought the protecto was suppose to be applied to the newgrowth too, here's what avlon website says:
A patented organic BiocompHlex, applied along the entire hairshaft, especially to new growth area, prior to relaxing

Bree - The PROTECTO is applied especially to the newgrowth and the PRESERVO is applied to previously relaxed hair. I have both of them.

ohhh, duhhhhhh. they're not the same product. LOL. i knew i was confused. thanks a bunch kitchen tichian.btw I LOVE YOUR HAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!
