Stay away from this weavologist in Houston and Dallas

I posted this in the Salon Review section, but also wante dto make sure lurkers could see this post as well. This is the experience from one of my friends who I referred to this weaveologist after seeing his work online and a recommendation on the black hair forum. My friend lives in Dallas and there aren't very many weaveologists mentined on the board for that area - so when I saw this one and noticed the work on his website I mentioned it to her. She was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt if he was willing to correct the situation but he basically ignored her multiple phone call requests and would schedule dates to fix her hair and then cancel. I just wanted to make sure everyone was aware of the negative experience she had working with him.

I would like to file a compliant Micheal Sterling. He refers to himself
as HairShotta. He works in Houston and Dallas (Houston: Me Tyme Salon
located at 16427 W. Little York Rd, Houston, TX 77084/
Dallas/Arlington: Kut It Up Barbershop & Beauty Salon at 2290 SE Green
Oaks Blvd, Arlington, TX 76018).

He did a terrible job on my weave installation. He claims to be a hair
specialist and expert. However, after two weeks of installation, the
braids were loose and the tracks were slipping from the braid due the
cheap thread used. I notified Micheal of the error on January 2nd and
he said that he would repair. However, after several weeks of waiting
for a follow-up call and appointment because he NEVER returns phone
calls), Micheal still had not responded with remedy to correct my hair.
I finally got in contact with him today, January 28th. Due to the lack
of customer service and commitment fixing my hair, I asked Micheal for a
50% refund since the job was not completed. Normal sew-ins last from
10-12 weeks. Mine has not lasted 4 weeks.

If I would have known his inability to perform the weave installation
process, I would have not have selected him as a stylist. I would like
to enlighten other potential customers of his so that they do not make
the same mistake.

I attached pictures to show the results of my hair after two weeks. You
can probably imagine what this hair looks like now.

Aww hell naw he needs his butt beat for them pictures. That looks horrible! It looks like she had that weave in for a year. I hope she gets her money she is requesting.

I know this shop...never been to it before.

I don't know much about weaves/installs but I know the pictures I just saw - just don't look right...I hope he reimbursed you!!!

Not trying to be funny but Mr. HairShotta did a shoddy job. She should get a full refund especially for all the hoops she had to jump through to get in contact with him.

Smh, no ma'am.
Even Seaborn would have done a better job than that. :nono:

Also, his myspace page is just as wicked and trife as he is. Why did I try to visit it, only to have it crash my browser?

This is really suprising...I've heard nothing but great things about his work. I even knew 2 ladies who swore by him a few years back.

Nothing about her weave says professional install :perplexed

Hopefully this works out for your friend.

She is going to take it down and have it completely redone by another stylist, because she wanted to give her hair a break for awhile. I understand some stylists may have a bad day (or in his case....a bad couple of days, a bad month, etc.) but to not make an effort to correct the problem is just bad business. She never really got to enjoy the install because she was so worried about one of the tracks coming out....

this all goes to show you cannot trust "pics" that so called stylist post on their sites. and he just looks suspect himself with a scary curl.
I don't know about weaves either but that does look like she had it in for months, where are the braids? wow.

looking at his site alone I would not have gone to him, no matter what other people had to say, maybe the people giving him good reviews were folks that are family. i'm starting to notice on these sites that product owners and stylists have memberships as well to steal our info and to get clients, BUT this doesn't always mean the person is good and professional.

Well, the credentials are impressive, but looks as the "Master" weavologist is all hype.

My ex-beautician called herself a weave expert. She jacked up my hair, by perming it first, then braiding it tight THEN putting a net over it. I didn't have very much hair to begin with when i first saw her - and after 2 years, i didn't have much left. but she was a "weave specialist/expert". Who gives them these titles anyway?!

I mean, really, i work with as*&holes all day - but that doesn't make me a certified "proctologist".

^^ lmao! specialist, expert when you see those words in a stylists name take it with a grain of salt. unless you have seen them working heads at the grammy's don't trust em' (and it's good real work where they are in the video or pictures with the clients hair).

I notice everytime someone says they are a 'specialist' their work is crap.

First of all I need to discuss those braids for a second.

A professional claimed to have done those scraggly loose cantevensetheparts cornrows:blush:!???! Like....fo serious?

I thought you were showin me a 4 1/2 month old install.

Forget the 50% refund you need a full refund for that mess.....WOW.

What the flip!??!?!?!
Did you supply the hair or did he?
Full REFUND!!!! And if he fight's you about it then it's time for one of those great black-out moments. You know one of those Whitney & Bobby joints!

OMG this place is right around the corner from me! I'll have to let my friends and family know about this. Thanks for sharing.

oh no, she deserves a full refund. I couldn't even tell the hair was braided when I first looked at it.
