spoke to Mizani today :(

Supergirl

With Love & Silk
Okay,

I spoke with someone named Elizabeth. She seemed to be "up" on the fact that there are some inquiries about Moisturefuse, because I noticed that she danced around saying that it was a new formula. So I just out right asked her. It is a new formula. I told her that I wanted to provide feedback regarding the new formula. I told her that the ingredients were not as good as the former and I even told her that the product itself is not as good. (I have tried both). Now, I am not saying that the new one is just horrible, but to me it doesn't compare to the old. I think right now, I am mad at the company, grrrrrrrrrr /images/graemlins/mad.gif

I am almost certain that they changed the formula believing that no one (or almost no one) would notice. And that would be true of most consumers, but you just can't pull one over on 'dem LHCF girls /images/graemlins/computer.gif

I'm relieved to know I didn't pay full price for a bootlegged product. I still want to try the "herby" version. My version makes my hair feel like silk. If the other version is better... /images/graemlins/lick.gif I want some!

That's funny because I called on Friday. I left my name and number with David Craggs.

This quote is from the article that I posted the link to:

Clarisa Wilson, who has been with Mizani since 1993, has been appointed to the new role of Vice President, General Manager of Mizani, reporting to David Craggs.

David Craggs called me back this morning. BTW, he has a great accent, nice dreamy voice. /images/graemlins/wink.gif He told me that the formula had not been changed. He also asked me to call his assistant back to tell her the ingredients of the 'other' formula. His assistant (Alberta) said that there are so many counterfeit products out there and hair care products included. Clarisa Wilson is on vacation. David said that he will get her to call me when she returns.

I have to say, I've never been a big fan of Mizani products, anyhow!! My ex-stylist used to use Mizani Regular strength on my hair and I would end up with hair stuck to my scalp and sores in my head every time. I switched salons because it seemed like they wanted to do EVERYONE'S hair with Mizani (whether they wanted it or not), because they could charge extra for it!!! /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I also don't like the smell of their products. I've tried that rosewater hairdress and didn't like it. Over-priced, and not worth it, in my opinion. I started to buy the moisturefuse recently based on some good reviews on this forum, but now I'm kinda glad I didn't. I think I'll just leave all Mizani products alone. It's not like I'll be missing much anyhow... /images/graemlins/look.gif (Just my opinion!!!)

Linday,

The funny thing is, I don't use Mizani products either. /images/graemlins/grin.gif I'm just trying to help these wonderful ladies here get to the bottom of this.

I did try Moisturfuse a long time ago. I did not like the smell (too strong for me), and it did nothing for my hair.

However, it's interesting how there are so many different things being said as to whether it's a fake product or a new formula (which is why I decided to call the people I mentioned in the post above). I like to get as close to the source as possible. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Are you serious? Maybe him saying that the formula had not been changed is in reference to the current formula. Maybe he's saying that the one we're calling new has not been changed. I hope that's it, because this is getting more confusing.

Yes it does. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif However, coming from him, I would almost bet that the 'other' formula is a counterfeit. Geez, I bet people would try to duplicate themselves if they thought they could. /images/graemlins/nono.gif Shame, shame, shame.

SuperGirl,

I gave him the listing of each one (that SassyGirl posted). The one with all of the 'good stuff in it' (rosemary, sage, nettles, aloe vera) is the one that they continue to make. I would never tell him about the two versions without having the listing of each one in front of me. Thanks for posting that information SassyGirl.

I guess I should thank pebbles and mirrormirror--I cut and pasted the info from their posts. /images/graemlins/blush.gif

Allandra,

I didn't realize that you'd already given him the ingredients. I thought you were waiting to give them to his assistant or something.

This is the # I called first:

800-345-5014. It's Loreal, they gave me this #

800-442-4643 That's Soft Sheen- Carson--this is where I talked to Elizabeth.

I also have this # 908-518-6898

What # did you use Allandra????????

I've never tried any other Mizani products except the relaxer which I love. I have an appointment at JC Penny for a t/u with Mizani tomorrow. As long as it works well and my hair looks good and healthy ...

I can post after tomorrow about what products they use on my hair and the results.

My gut is telling me that they changed the formula to one that is cheaper to make and they don't want to admit it...

If it were counterfeit, wouldn't it have the same ingredients listed? /images/graemlins/confused.gif I give up! My head hurts! /images/graemlins/whyme.gif

I'm the one who posted that I talked to Mizani last week and asked the girl(who also happened to be Elizabeth) to read the ingredients to me and she read the ingredients from the "fake" one. She didn't tell me nothing about no formula changing like she told you, what I "thought" she told me was that instead of listing the botonical name like rosemary, sage, etc on some bottles they list the scientific name.... now I would have to go dig up my old chemistry books to see if that's true and since I'm not that big on these Mizani products anyhoo the books will stay put....but in the end, Elizabeth is telling you something different than she's telling me.

So from all of this I deduce: Mizani doens't know what they're talking about and talking to the bigwig (Clarisa) is the key to this mystery.

The fact remains though that Mizani had in it's posession a bottle of the "fake" stuff.

As of right now, I'm leaning towards the fact that the packaging and the way the ingredients are listed had changed but I'm sure you ladies are on top of it.

well I may as well throw in my bit to add to the confusion and say that I called back Mizani again today and they told me that the formula has NOT changed. This is the same message I got last week.

Personally, if the formula has changed, then we would all eventually see the newer version being phased in everywhere over the coming weeks and months, including those Mizani certified salons that sell the herby version.

My personal opinion is that its counterfeits, just like counterfeits you get for other hair brands out there.

Time will tell... /images/graemlins/smile.gif

That's what I think. Another way to tell might be that if a place where you used to buy the "original" is no longer selling it but instead has the "new" version.

These companies know that changing formulas is a big deal becasue think about the labels they slap on products when the package has changed----"New Look/packaging--same great taste/flavor/product....."

I think as a Mizani knock-off you could probably make just as much money--stating you a re a Mizani knock-off. I don't think you have to make an excat copy---I don;t htink Mizani is THAT hot. This is getting ridiculous.....I bought a few bottles of the old one but I'm about to fall in love with my QH Cholesterol.

IMO the company seems a little nonchalant and unconcerned that authorized Mizani salons are selling knockoffs. It just seems they would be more concerned about this, since it would be cutting into their revenues /images/graemlins/confused.gif.

Ulta sells Mizani Moisturefuse and they are a pretty big store. I'm going to look at the ingredients on their moisturefuse tomorrow. It will be interesting to see which version they have. If it is this fake version, I am going to ask them right then and there, WHY!

Saturday I went to Trade Secret and an authorized salon (Simply Betty's something or other...). The salon had all fakes. Trade Secret had the fakes, but the stylist had fakes and the herb version in the "back room" of the salon. /images/graemlins/confused.gif
And she wouldn't sell it to me, either. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I agree with you and I hope it is fake. I think it is fake because the moisturfuse I bought recently and the fufyl had the same ingredients and when I first bought them it didn't.

I have been following this for some time and although i am not a mizani user i too am curious about the unfolding developments. i am wondering if this is something a lot of companies are doing? i dont know what to believe because why would all these stores including salons that normally sell them have fakes? i agree that the company should be concerned if there are a great number of stores selling the fake version out there. and i also agree with the fact that this isnt like a coach bag or something why the need to have fakes? its just a conditioner, its not THAT serious. God bless you all.
