SPLIT ENDS EXPERIMENT!

I just got through answering a post about split ends and their prevention. I have been using TIGI Health Goddess and Ego Boost leave in conditioners like a lot of you ladies are. And I am very pleased with my results so far to be trueful. But I think that just handling your hair can cause split ends also. I think that if we start shampooing our hair by first wetting it and then use our fingers to massage our scalps and really not manipulate the hair during that time. Just concentrate on the scalp and let the shampoo clean the length of our hair during the rinse. The ends of our hair are the oldest and therefore more fragile and I think that maybe if they are handled less in all phases (shampoo, rinse, drying, etc) they would break less. I started doing this a couple of weeks ago after reading some of my old hair journal entries. How many are you ladies doing this and if not would you like to start an experiment with me to see if this helps us prevent split ends. Any one? The only time we would handle our ends would be to put moisturizers or any conditioners (ego boost, etc) that we use or oil and of course to style.

Edie, I've been doing this for years and I definitely think that less handling has saved my ends. I also limit the amount of heat that my ends endure. I do roller sets, but I blow my roots only.

Been using the Ego Boost since the 25th of March...and I love it! It's saving my ends...along with some other stuff that I have been doing. Thanks again for the recommendation in your other post Edie!

I have also been limiting how much I handle my hair...and it's helping...along with distilled water and coconut oil. I went through my hair today...and only found 1 split and a few white bulbs...compared to finding a bunch of them weeks before.

I put conditioner on my ends about 5-10 minutes before washing my hair. It helps to protect my hair during the shampoo process. iT works great! It has been at least 3-4months since my last trim and I cant find a split end or bulb anywhere!
