Has anyone experienced the Spirit speaking to them? Like it was revealing something to you that was happening in the life of someone you knew? Does that happen? I just want to know if I am going nuts or not.

Dear mrsjones1-
I think that GOD communicates with us differently since we are all unique. With me, I think if I was in the dark and an angel or light appeared to me, it would really frighten me. Someone else might not be frightened.
I do believe that the Spirit speaks to me. For example, one day I looked up a guy I used to date many years ago.I was just curious about what he was up to. I even found a phone number and information about his different companies. So I wrote the information down and put it away in my desk drawer. I don't know what had happened to me because I was just a notch on this guy's belt (don't fornicate anymore) and he didn't care about me. So when I came back to my senses, I started to find his information and destroy it. Well, I removed the information then I heard the spirit ask if I got it all. And sure enough I had not removed the phone number. After I got the phone number, I destroyed it all.
I am currently working on a project. I do believe that the Spirit is guiding me because out of nowhere, these thoughts come to me and I have to stop what I am doing and write them down.

Like a previous poster said I think the Spirit speaks to us in a way that we are comfortable with. Many years ago, my prayer partner and I had been praying for a guy I used to date (he’s my husband now). During our prayers my friend told me that I needed to confront him about being saved. Well, over the course of a week or so I prayed about what to say to him and how to bring up the subject of salvation. Every time I would pray about it I would hear in my spirit “He’s already saved.” Finally, I talked to him about it and he told me that he was saved and baptized when he was in high school. The lord has spoken and revealed things to me about different situations in my life through dreams its was quite freaky at first and I always use to chalk it down to coincidence. I was speaking on the phone to a random pastor (never met him in my life) who told me to write down whatever the Lord reveals to me because he reveals so much to me through my dreams. One thing I know though is that after such dreams I feel the peace and presence of God and I know that I'm not going nuts.

Yes, the spirit does speak to us. When we pray we are communicating with God. He speaks to us but most of us don't listen because we're too busy asking. I've had occasions where I was praying about a situation and in the middle of the prayer the Spirit tells me "It is done! Why are you praying about this when it's already been answered?"
The other day I was praying for a friend when the spirit told me to stop being so judgmental. That God is currently working on him. That I should be patient and let God do his thing.
For me personally, the Spirit most often speaks to me in dreams.

I frequently feel like the Lord speaks to me and in ways the jolts me to attention. It's awesome and I feel awestruck when it happens and
not just me...most of the members of my family have this communication
Once when my sister and I were arguing about something that we didn't want to tell our mother and my sister planned to do it anyway
I said "you don't have to tell her anything"
my sister said "I can't NOTtell her ..okay? She'll bring it up first. she ALREADY "knows"
and I had to laugh..yeah yeah..you're right
It was the first time as adults we ever publicly acknowledged my mother's spiritual communication abilities into each other
my brother's new wife was riding on a subway..she was foreign from Canada and unfamiliar...with American transport and so sat next to a random woman to ask directions to the library and the woman told her of other places to go and named a nice restaurant and said she went there once a date and reccommended it and as she talked about the date..
my sister-in-law thought the man sounded familiar and slowly realized the woman was describing.... her new husband ...my brother...
and so she asked point blank what was the guy's name was
and It WAS my brother
that happens to me more frequently than it doesn't.
I COMPLETELY relate.
For one year I sought spiritual counseling from anyone who would listen...for JUST this issue..
I really literally thought I was losing my mind
So while I used to think I was going crazy...I recognize now it still is awesome ..
but I am learning to say thank you to God for such communication.

Yes, this happens to all of us once in a while, (we look back). I'm glad the Spirit spoke to you and most importantly, you listened.
One time I was going out to this place and the Spirit told me not to go. I still went.
I saw my ex friend (he was no good) and was tempted to go back to him but God gave me the strength to avoid it. It's always good to listen...chicacanella
