Spinoff - Protecting your scalp to prevent baldness?

Okay ladies - this is a spinoff of the thread asking if black women tend to bald as they age. I do a decent job of taking care of my hair, but don't do much for my scalp. Any strategies or suggestions for preserving the scalp so our hair does not fall out with age? (Also, suggestions geared toward us creamy crackheads are more than appreciated!)

Scalp massages are good, I think. Exercise, too. Anything that keeps the blood flow good and strong to the scalp, and keeps the follicles as healthy as possible.

:look: Cutting down on the perms might help too - at least good long stretches to reduce exposure.

I use to suffer from dry scalp due to no-lye relaxers; harsh shampoos, hard water, hair dryers; and not producing enough natural oil.

I now use a lye relaxer that is applied properly; chelating & moisturizing shampoo; seldom use hair dryers; and apply natural oils on my scalp frequently that has moisturizing properties.

My scalp did a complete 180 turn around and hair has thicken up!

Peppermint Oil helps stimulate the scalp.
