This is a spinoff to the "Is there anyone that had short hair all their life thinking it wouldn't grow?"
http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=356855

This is for those that have been on this board for at least 2 years, and have not seen the type of development that they desire.

Is there anyone, who despite the conditioning, moisturizing and caretaking you have seen, still feels like you have not made the kind of progress you would like?

I would really like to hear from you!:yep:

Re: Spinoff: Is there anyone who hasn't seen progress despite being on board for a wh

I saw progress at first but I did not start with healthy hair. I had A LOT of setbacks which led to many trims/cuts so basically no change in length.

I've seen people hair crack on other members who havent made progress. But I'll admit, I've been taking care of my hair for 3 yrs and I'm still trying to get to SL. But I've had HORRIBLE setbacks. Bald spots, especially:nono: I'm STILL recovering from those setbacks and trying to get my hair healthy. I have pics that would probably make ya'll cringe.

If I did not have those problems, I would have made progress.

It's one thing if your hair just hasn't gotten longer. But it's another thing if the condition of your hair has gotten worse and worse.

I would still recommend LHCF to any woman. My setbacks/lack of progress werent because of the site.

ETA: The main reason for my setbacks were stylists. I dont mean to bash them but I'm being honest. If I was a do it yourself from jump, my hair would be soooo better off right now.

I've never been a pj, hardly use heat, and DC weekly.

Yep, I actually lost progress after coming to the board. I became a PJ and tried techniques that I should have known wouldn't work for my hair. I am just getting back to where I was hair wise. My hair and my pocketbook thank me.

Keeping it simple, a good diet, and some exercise is all anyone really needs.

*ignore my join date* :sekret:

My problem has been cutting my hair off every year. :ohwell: I just get impatient, frustrated with it, discouraged, bored, etc. and then I cut it all off and that temporarily solves all of my problems for the next 6 months. I'm trying to get over that "cut as a solution" thing now.

Admittedly, I am frustrated and thinking it's not going to work out this time either but I'm resolved not to cut it off again for at least 5 years since the last time I did it. It's just been about 5 months since I've actually been actively reading/posting/looking/engaged here on LHCF (so I always say ignore my join date, lol) so I guess I can't expect to have outrageous progress right away when I'm just now seriously trying... so I'm not complaining! It will improve. :yep:

Good luck on your progress, ladies!

Thanks for your honesty ladies. I will bump this up a little later, if no one else responds.

Most people focus on length as a measure of progress. While my hair is longer (I was growing out a big chop), my hair is only shoulder length when it is completely straight.

That said, my hair is the healthiest it's been in almost 20 years. So, I consider that progress.

Re: Spinoff: Is there anyone who hasn't seen progress despite being on board for a wh

I had a major setback 1 1/2 years after joining (over moisturized hair). When I first joined my hair was over-processed and had zero elasticity. So when I started moisturizing my hair it had no structural integrity and broke off. As a result, I had to do a series of major trims which set me back shorter than when I started.

Add to that; my hair is thinning and I have bald patches that pop up every now and then.

Throughout it all I'm now finally bonefide shoulder length (1/2 inch below collarbone when blowdried) and I'm hoping to be grazing APL by the end of the year. So, that would be 3 years give or take by the end of this year.

My hair is not as long as I imagined it would be by now but it is growing... slowly... but surely.

I just have to be patient. I too want to cut it off at times out of frustration, but I remind myself how happy I will be when I acheive my goal BSL.

Well I haven't been here for two years, but after I joined I was always jumping on bandwagons, and trying new things, but one thing I can say that has helped me is growth aids, I know many people knock them and say if you are not healthy, then you should try a growth aid, but they helped me big time, I mean I will probably be full apl by the end of the summer, cuz I have some parts touching my apl......but I have found what works for me is just sticking to what I know or already have used......I just added dc and growth aids.....and I have made tons of progress, i just don't post pics cuz apl is not long enough for me, I'm waiting for that mbl........

Yeah, I set myself back by buying everything that was recommended on here and switching up all the time. Once I truly found products that worked for my hair and stuck to them, my hair started thriving!! It's all good, now!!
