I know this is kinda weird but I was wondering. One day in the future (when I'm happily married...which I hope isn't too far away :look:) I want to have a daughter. Anyway, do ya'll anticipate their hair? I think so much about my future children. Their names, how I'll teach them, future allergies, languages. Heck I'm writing a story for her now. Though tbh my mind keeps going back to the superficial things. I just hope I have a little girl I can dress up, and do thing with her hair. (I know that kids aren't accessories :blah: )

I imagine a little girl that was like me when I was little and has the same type of hair. I just hope it is less tangly than mine was a child. :nono: But I like thinking about it, quite a bit actually. All the bows and barrettes. The diffrent styles I'll do. :drunk: Regardless of the type I can't wait.

* I'm not really talking about getting with some dude for a certain type of hair. Because I saw that mentioned in the same thread. :/ That's just ridiculous.

Im no where near to having kids, but i just have to say..i think about doing my future daughters hair too. I want teach my future daughter about her hair. The biggest reason why is well my mom didnt really like my hair or at least she said she didnt like to do it:nono: So she gave me a relaxer :look: Im so jealous of women who grew up being natural! I dont care if her hair breaks combs i would want her to remain natural until an appropriate time in her life. Until she appreciates her hair and takes care of it HERSELF.

Oh and also because im a product junkie and i cannot wait until i can buy all the cute kiddie hair products!

I have a daughter, however before I had her I wanted a little girl soooo bad. I use to thank about my daughter and I chilling together, staying up at night playing dress up, polishing our toes and nails. I wanted to dress her up all cute and make sure her hair was cute. My daughter is such a girlie girl. I don't want it any other way. She is only 3 and has all the esentials she need to carry in her purse. She loves getting shoes, clothes and purses as gifts. Her dad and I have created a monster. She is the only girl. She has 4 brothers. Oh and she also has a tomboy side. I love it!

I hope I have a baby girl someday. I would love to have a little girl to dress up and I'd even enjoy doing her hair.

My sister has a baby girl and I wish I lived closer to her so I could be involved in combing my niece's hair. :look:

 I can picture this so clearly. I know she's adorable with her little handbag and accessories.

I don't want children but I have a 4 month old niece and I already asked my sister for exclusive rights to caring for her hair  I have all the styles planned in my head and everything lol.

I have 2 girls, each with a lot of thick hair. While it's fun trying new styles on their hair, it's a lot of work. All I can think about is chilling out this weekend. But I gotta take their cornrows out, wash, condish, etc, maybe a rollerset. I'm tired just thinking about it...

Yes I think about my future daughter's hair all the time! I cant wait to learn to cornrow, and try all the natural styles I see other little girls with.

Yeah. I don't care what texture it is, I just hope that it's thick.

I won't be having kids for a long time so for now I will practice on my niece and my baby cousin.

I'm just glad there are websites like LHCF and other helpful sites that have taught me how to care for my hair. Now that I know, having a daughter will be different because I will know how to take care of her hair. The more of us that do this, the more we can rid the world of the thought that black females can only wear weaves to have long hair....

I hope i have a girl too. We're trying to get pregnat and hopefully we will by 2010 (i'm so exited). Anyway i want my daughter to have curly hair i don't mind the hair type. And i will teach her to love her hair as much as i love mine now ... cause if i were teached to love my hair back in my child days, i did'nt have to worried about BC and stuff now :(

I have a little girl now. And when I was pregnant, I just knew her hair would be like mine. Which is 4a/b. Wrong! lol :lachen:

During my whole pregnancy I stalked pictures and blogs with little girls with cornrows etc and practiced styles on my little sisters hair.

Chile this baby has 3a hair..lol

Now I'm, dealing with a head full of curls that I have to style almost everyday.
She is also a little girly girl and pretty much mimics what I like, clothes shoes, purses etc. She is only 1.5. :drunk:

I have two baby girls under the age of 3. The oldest is 4A and the little one is 3B. THEY HATE GETTING THEIR HAIR DONE. My oldest has put me through it! She will twist, scream, run away. My husband has to hold her down for me. She hates barrettes and rips them out, hair and all. So now we just do 2 afro puffs on the average day. But the terror will sit still for my mother in law and let her do cornrows! Argh! At one point I would bring her to my MIL's house once a week to hook up her hair. My youngest gets one puff or two if I have time. Then I keep it moving. It ain't worth the drama. I use a detangler and a moisturizer but they hate feeling their hair wet. The irony of it all!

I think about this every single day.
I'm only eighteen, but when I'm on the bus and stuff, I will just sit there and daydream about messing in my future DD's hair. I think about combing it, rollersetting it, making huge puffs with it, moisturizing it, co-washing it, pressing it, braiding it, bunning it...just about everything. I dream about all the little bobbles, barrettes, twisty-ties, headbands, bows, and clips that I'm going to buy. And I dream about teaching her to take care of and love her hair, regardless of what type it is, or what anyone around her says. No relaxer on my baby's head. Ever. :nono2:

I just hope she cooperates with me...if she's not into hair or girly things, I don't plan on forcing her into it.

Lol I thought I was the only one who did this :) Yea I def think about it a lot. I just want her hair to be the best it can be without the chemical processing. I wanna treat her hair the same as my mom did mine. When I was a kid my hair was between MBL and WL, extremly thick, and healthy. She NEVER let me wear my hair out, cause she said it would break. It was always in braids, plaits or cormrows. Now that I think about she was up on the protective styling game waaaaaaaay b4 a lot of people were lol

My daughter is a TOMBOY DIVA, she loves clothes and shopping, but most of all HATES MACY's! As a tomboy she is fearless, tough, and loves animals, especially snakes! She has 5 brothers so I know what you mean ;0)

I am with you. I have a DD. She is 12. 13 years of doing hair...if you count from birth...and it is tiring when I consider doing my own as well. Plus...her hair is THICK THICK THICK and while it's only close to MBL now, she was WL up until recently when hard water issues overseas made me have to cut off dried up, horrible ends that I wanted to hold onto so badly....

I keep her in root-braided twists and twist outs now to cut down on the work I have to do while keeping her happy about a more grown-up hairstyle. If I had to keep her hair straight, I would pass out. It takes FOREVER!

I do NOT enjoy doing her hair...though I do like to see her in new styles when I have the energy. I keep her ends protected and her hair moisturized and I take excellent care of it....just don't have fun doing it because when I finish her hair, there is no time for anything else. Honestly, with all the hair she has, I do not see her taking care of her own hair soon. Most of my adult friends with very long hair kept going to their moms long after they had reached adulthood. I am determined to teach her, but I dread the thought of how tangled she would get it and how much hair she would lose. :wallbash::wallbash: Outside of twists, hers is a 4-5 hour styling head of hair.

Anyway...enough of that. I don't want to sound complainy because I love her hair...but it's more work than pleasure at this point because I am trying to grow my own hair to at least APL...something I have never had in my entire life..

i anticipate caring for her hair with the wealth of healthy hair tips i know--i want her to have long and thick healthy type 4 hair just like me----
i dont ever want her to feel like she has bad hair or etc or has to assimilate to anyone elses definition of good hair---want her to be proud of her hair and iwill do my best to keep it healthy--but i am worried that if she decides to do something real crazy to her hair like i did lol--when i was a teenager---and mess up all those yrs of healthy hair---

Yeah. I want her to be a loose haired waist length 4b but you know with black families you never know what you're gonna get. I want to learn how to cornrow. I should practice on my little sisters.

I do think about it and I can't wait. I just feel like I'm in such a better place to take care of my own hair and my future daughters' hair than my mother was, and I think it will be beautiful.

My own mother gave me a jherri curl when I was 6 :hair: and then perms after that, so I think I can do better, lol.

Plus I can't wait for me and my daugher to rock twin poofs! (or whatever it may look like) lol.

I am style challenged. I can box braid and twist really well but I can't cornrow or flat twist to save my life. I like little boys with hair so either way I would have to up my skills first.

I have two daughters (7 and 1) and I just love doing their hair...especially since I've discovered healthy hair care sites!

So im not the only one who thinks about this. lol. I think about it all the time, like "if only I knew all the things I know now about hair care, when I was a child, my hair would be floor length now." lol. Now that I have learned a lot of do's and dont's from the hair boards, I know that whenever I have a daughter her hair is gonna be healthy and long.

My daughter's (and/or son's) hair will be healthy.

That's all I know for sure. Makes me smile. :)

Having kids is not happenin till I'm a married homeowner but I do look forward to all of that playing together dressing her up:reddancer: and I really hope I have some gorgeous coils to work with!!:love3:

I LOVE doing various styles on coily hair so my daughter will be lookin fly as she can be:cool2: I LOVE all the cute beads and mid sized barrettes I'm gonna have a ball:grin:

I really look forward to starting her off from day one LOVING her hair and being proud of her coils:yep:

I hope I have a baby girl someday. I would love to have a little girl to dress up and I'd even enjoy doing her hair.

My sister has a baby girl and I wish I lived closer to her so I could be involved in combing my niece's hair. :look:

My niece is 5 and they live a couple of hours away from me. I don't agree with some of the decisions my sister has made regarding my niece's hair....if only I lived closer.:look:

The only set rule I would have is no relaxer's until college, at that point she can make up her own mind about how she wants to wear her hair. I know how to braid and would probably keep her hair in nice braid styles as a child. I like little girls to look their age so I wouldn't lean to straighter styles (pressing/flat ironing) until she is older.

I'd like 2 girls and yeah I think about their future hair. It will probably be like mine and I'm most certainly dreading it.*shrugs* I love my hair but doing my head PLUS two other heads, just like mine, seems such an impossible task. Sheit, I ain't touched my hair in weeks.:nono:

My future girls will most likely wear their hair like Thandie Newton's girls. :yep::look:

I HATE to admit that I do...but I do. I pray my future daughter (praying for a girl) is healthy and everything but I also pray her hair is like mine. I pray its manageable because I can not braid nor part and I am heavy handed with every product...so she will just walk around with big uncombed hair unless her grandma gets at her!:perplexed
