Spending for Growth

I had no idea lacefronts cost that much!! You poor (literally!) thing!:( I hope your hair improves.

As far as moisturizers go, S-Curl is a forum favorite, and it's pretty cheap. Neutrogena Triple Moisture Silk Touch Leave-In is supposed to be good too.

Hi precious,
Lace fronts are expense but they are supposed to last 1 year- we'll see. Are the moisturizers cremes or liquids?

S-Curl is a spray, it's liquidy in texture but not particularly runny. The NTM one is a creamy consistency, I think (never tried it but it's popular here).

GOODNESS, that's a lot of money. Did you buy all this at the same time or was it spread out over some months. I hope this board helps find the solutions to what works for your hair and you see progress. Goodluck!

You have snapped!!!!

Let It Grow.....Let It Grow..... Let It Grow.....Lots of Hair like Rapunzel

Thats a bit much to spend on hair. Your hair will not grow any faster or be retained any better because you spent almost a $1000.

Hey girly. Good luck on your growth adventure. I am sure her purchase of the lacefront was strictly for protective hair style purposes and just another style option. Her list isn't that bad or long in my opinion. I have seen many pj's list here. I am sure their smaller purchases of vitamins, style products, appliances, oils etc amounted to the same.

Accessories:

And I still have more to buy!
Bobby Pins, Mane & Tail Shampoo and Conditioner, Rogaine (for breakage at hair line from braids/weaves :() Water based moisturizer (suggestions??? Particularly something that helps soften/detangle natural hair)

Goodness!! You sound like me! I came out of never ending braids and weaves September. When did you start your new hair care journey?

Girl....you are spending a whole lotta money...I feel for you ( I was once there and still trying to get past it). Just in case you want to buy another lace front, I got mine at Afrotreasures.com (actually, I won one off their auction on ebay) and it only cost me $250 and they have really good quality too. You can also check blackhairmedia.com's discussion forum on lace fronts, the ladies on there get theirs for less than $200 from chinese vendors.

But my suggestion is to use the products you have now before buying any more (trust me, I did the same thing you did and now I don't even have space in my house to keep all the things I bought for my hair :lachen:)

Can I get an amen, I have 4 falls, 2 UPA's and 3 phonys of various types.... I justify them by saying they are saving me the price of a salon visit!! LOL.... We just have to remember not to go overboard, stay within our means is what is important.

About that lace front, there's no way to workout in that thing is there, as much as I sweat when I run, the thing would prolly slide right off my head! And I like to scratch my scalp too! My hair is really growing and my scalp is itching (no dandriff)..I need to put WGO or something on it nightly to help calm it down. It wants to breathe. Lace fronts are so pretty when styled right though.... I just always wondered about those basic things about them...

AtlantaJJ- Well I have human hair braids in now but I will say bye to them the minute I get the wig. I want to be able to treat my natural hair. It seems like I can’t win. Braids thin my edges and perms/relaxers and break my hair. My hair is strongest and thickest in the natural state- that’s why I’m transitioning. I like straight styles so I think I’ll flat iron when I reach my goal.

I totally know what you mean about the price of braids I was there, but my reason for wearing them was because I'm so active, working out sweating, wash and go kind of lazy thing. I started worrying about my edges and thinning in general that is why I have come out of the braids. I have learned so much here on this board in 2 short months.

If you fine fragile hair, you may want to read some of the henna threads, I did my third henna last night. Let me tell you what I gain. My strands thicken up, my hair has incredible body and shine. My frizzy ends seem to seal up some how, and my gray hairs are a beautiful burgandy red...highlight bonus... When we come out of the weaves and the braids, our hair cuticles are pretty much stripped. I did an aphrogee intense protein treatment right away, and then anything that would help coat heal and seal my hair cuticle. Then I found henna

My edges have thickend up so nicely!! I can't believe my hair is in this good of shape after the night mare I ended up with on Sept. 16th when I took those braids down and decided to break my appointment to get them put back in. This board is full of a wealth of knowledge and I know you can get your hair healthy with care and time, and not a lot of time, if you gauge by me... I was looking like Blossom's Avatar about 2 months ago!! hahahahaha:lachen:

Well be sure to get some pictures. Are you going to have somone give it a nice cut for you? or did it come with a good cut?

I can tell you for a good inexpensive conditioner, I was surpised! Hello Hydration...that stuff gave my hair major slip and it feels soo good today! Henna's can be drying so I know the HH has my hair feeling moist even at the end of the day. And I love the WGO for my scalp! smells a little funny, but that's okay!

What are you planning to do to care for your natural hair when you are out of the braids? You will be caring for two heads of hair you know!!! I crack up because I curl the front of my hair and then my human hair fall too...

You can secure the wig using tape, instead of adhesives. That way it will be secure. But not to the point where you couldn't remove the unit every night.:) That's what I intend to do. The whole point, for me, is to take care of my natural hair

What exactly is henna:perplexed- I have no idea? Can I buy it online?
Well yes... when you have a minute...a long minute...do a search on henna on this site. There are two very long very good active threads that talk about henna, and other natural herbal hair colors/conditioners.
