TRANSITION OVER! 11-22-14
moisturized? I was in las Vegas for 4 days. I felt like my hair was dry as a brick. I tried water, leave in conditioner, S Curl, gel...nothing worked!:( I might be moving to AZ next year and I know my lightly texlaxed hair won't be making that jouney! Any tips from the experts out there? I know that area has hard water, but dang! I could've put someone's eye out if I crashed into them. No joke ya'll.:nono: I need help.:ohwell:

I don't think my texlaxed hair will make it in AZ. I will probably have to fully relax it. When I lived there 3 yrs ago, my relaxed hair had no problem with the heat and lack of moisture. Right now, I am still researching. What I saw the last 4 days scared me.:ohwell:

Lots of moisturizing products..and then some more! I And lots of lotion too, LOL! Yes the water here is soooohard and dries you out a LOT! But seriously, I am actually going to invest in a shower filter because the water here is so harsh! The only good thing is the humidity level is low (well not today..) most of the time so you can wear your hair straight usually with no problems...

I mist my hair at least twice a day with either UBH Dew or PM's Awapuhi mist. Also, washing/cw hair frequently is a must.

OT, but your threat caught my eye. I'm moving to AZ too as soon as our house sells, hopefully by the end of the year! No more Jersey winters for me -- woo hoo!

It wasn't all negative. I just found out that the hair in my nape grew 1/2 an inch! My nape was almost bald when I left and now I almost have enough hair to 2 strand twist.:D I took no vitamins while I was there. I just used my La india mixed w MTG and MN. I also surged too. My sides and top have gained the same amount too. My hair does well in the heat. It just seems that I can't do much due to my short hair. I'm sure u will do just fine when u leave Jersey.

I live in arizona. OOOUCH it is soooo hot!

I drink a lot of water!
I have a shower filter
I rarely straighten my hair. If i want to wear it down, I use caruso brand rollers.
I am always moisturizing via hot oil treatments, steam treatments, etc.
and I dye it black to hide any damaged parts

I feel your pain. It is a huge challenge trying to maintain moisture and alleviate the dryness.

The problem here in Vegas is that --- not only is the water extremely hard, but it has a high level of chlorine and other chemicals that dry the hair. Top it off with the dry climate and you've got some dry, crispy hair (if you're not careful). As Anky said, you have to drink lots of water, and get a shower filter if you don't have a water softener. You won't have to worry about your hair puffing up from the humidity so that's a plus.

I just maintain my same routine, and minimize the heat (flatironing, etc.), and I add my products 2x/day. It's extremely windy here on most days, so I can't wear my hair out like I used to.
