FLA=humidity year round. Aveda anti-humectant pomade is great for keeping straight hair! Its expensive but it really really keeps the hair happy when straight. Otherwise, just work with the heat, bun, braid and moisturize twice a day. I use a spritz in the morning and full out moisturize and seal at night. Works wonders.

This is exactly why I did WNGs all last summer. So far, I have done WNGs and twistouts, and I am about to do a HYH challenge with braids/twists for the rest of the summer. I flat ironed my hair for graduation and 3 hours later it was tucked away in a low bun because it was so humid. Can't excape it. LOL

I'm from New Orleans too and I recommend anything NOT straight..I usually do straw sets, flat twists, or something along those lines.

I'm on the North Carolina/South Carolina border. The humidity is a BEAST!!! I'm transitioning but I'm 99% relaxed right now (only 10 weeks post!). Straight styles are fine for me, with the ends curled. If I try to do any type of set - roller set, flexirod set, bantu knotout set, braidout, etc., my curls fall within a couple of hours or my braidout explodes.:ohwell: Now that I am no longer using direct heat I just bun my hair or wear it in a ponytail. I love my bantu knotouts, the curls I get are absolutely gorgeous, but they're mush halfway into the day.
