How do you all survive with all that humidity. I went t Myrtle Beach and my hair was a complete disaster. I sooooo desperately needs tips. I'm going back down for the fourth and really didn't want t I do braids. I'm countin' on y'all I betta get some input. LOL
 
Yea, the humidity is not a joke down here. lol. I usually wear hair styles with some sort of texture to it when its raining a lot or its really humid outside. I do braidouts, twistouts, two strand twists, bantu knot outs...some kind of hair style with some texture to it, so if my hair starts frizzing, it wont look as bad. Trying to flat iron my hair is a no no during the hot summer months. But yea, if all else fails, I will just put my hair in a bun, and then put a nice hat on.
 
Sabino Moisture Block really does work well if you want to try to keep it straight.

I keep my daughters hair braided up for this reason. We can't do buns b/c her edges just curl on up and by the end of the day her hair looks undone. I won't straighten b/c again, it curls right back up
 
Yep..nothin nice.

I time the days I wear my hair down (roller set, blown out, etc.) with the next cool front..other than that..its pulled back, put up, curly poof..... or I throw on my half wig.
 
Um yea - the humidity ain't no joke. Along with the textured styles like braid/twist outs, I'll also wear alot of twists, the occasional set of box braids or stretched out puffs.

Every now and then I'll straighten it but know darn good and well that it won't last.

Siggie pic is of hair I straightened a couple days ago and you see it's shriveling up and poofing out :ohwell: I knew better but did it anyways :nono:
 
Sabino MB, all the way. Don't leave home without it.
I also observed that if i lightly castor oil my scalp, my hair doesn't revert as quickly...also, keep your hair wrapped-up with a scarf until the very last minute. This has helped me prolong my style...and i'm an apl transitioner....HTH~
 
I'm twisted out right now for this very reason and still put Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny Serum on my hair before I set it in twists to keep the frizz at bay. :yep:
 
I'm from New Orleans, LA (home of the humidity), lived in the Netherlands (rained every morning literally) and now I live in Dallas, TX. So I definitely know humidity. Anyway, I do think that your hair becomes use to the humidity after a while because I rarely have frizzy days living in Texas. However, I usually wear my hair natural and it is pretty healthy. If I do wear it straight and it's raining I will keep a scarf on my head and my hair in a bun until I get to my destination and walk-in. Then I will take off the scarf and take the bun down. I don't use any specific products for humidity. I'm much to cheap to buy different products. Shampoo, conditioner, styler and coconut oil (for my twist) is about as much as I will do!! I know....I'm pathetic!

I don't get my hair flat ironed at all in the summer because it will either go completely flat or puff out into a big 'fro. So the main styles I can hang with in the summer months are wash and gos (that's my primary style - either down or up in a ponytail) and buns. My twist outs get frizzy pretty quickly in high humidity conditions, so if I do those I have to re-twist them every night before bed to maintain the look (which I hate b/c I'm lazy! :lachen:)
 
I live in New Orleans where it's humid pretty much all year round with the exception of maybe two months. I normally where buns, twists, twistouts, puffs or just my fro. In the event I do straighten it I know it won't last longer than a day.

I live in Sugar Land, TX and it is always humid down here. When I get up in the morning it's already 80 degrees!!! What I find that works for me is not to put as much product in my hair, whatever that product is [i.e. frizz serum or whatever] and my hair does not frizz out as much. My hair is not long enough for knots or buns so I have to work with what I got :grin: Hope this helps!!! BTW your hair is gorgeous!!! :yep:
 
I live in the south and that is one of the reasons I went natural. When I was relaxed my hair would not hold a style at all and it was very frustrating. As a natural I don't have that problem at all.
 
OK, Don't sleep on the Humidity in the Northeast. While it may not be never-ending, it can be beastly!
Yesterday for example. I left with one style and returned with a completely different style.
Off to start a spin off thread.

Yeah, the humidity in Atlanta pretty much lasts all year. I roller set but I already know it will poof up instantly, doesn't matter if I do it or my stylist. I am just used to it and it usually ends up pulled back. If I am wearing it curly, it really doesn't bother me.
 
Embrace the humidity. I'm natural, so I'm just leaving my hair alone and letting it flow free and wavy.

Last summer, all I did was fight the humidity. Sabino Moisture Block helped tremendously, but I just don't feel like it this year.
 
Honestly, the humidity doesn't bother my hair too bad. I did notice the more oil I put on it, the better it holds a style though.
 
ITA....humidity ain't no joke! I got lucky this week and I was able to rock my hair straight in Florida weather for 3 days so far and it rained all yesterday!! :clap: :lol:

I will probably end up bunning and doing braidouts as usual. I may re-braid or twist my hair in a month or so.
 
I just try to work with it. Braidouts and twistouts in the summer, straight in the winter.
And ITA with the poster who said adding oil makes the hair stay straighter longer.
 
This NC humidity ain't no match for my Caruso's!!! I am mostly bunning due to laziness, but when i want a humidity-proof style, i fire up my caruso's for a bouncy, full/fluffy curls that last all day long.
 
Girl SC ain't no joke....that's my home....for me I wear ponytails and buns....SMB didn't work for me, nothing works for me, so I will have to wear my hair in a cute bun or a sexy ponytail....that's how I cope...

.i know exactly what yew mean...there's humidity 99.9% of the time in Houston.....grrrr:wallbash:
.right now im in box braids, but i normally just do buns or banana clips ( my straight hair does not stay straight and my braid-outs explodes a couple of hours into the day)

I went from "wow your hair is pretty and healthy" to a couple hours later "CG, what happened to your hair"/ :lachen: Humidity is not my friend.
 
When I was in FLA I did twistouts everyday for seven days straight and my hair did really well. If I would have straightened my hair it would have been a disaster, lol.
