Sore head and intching means growth?

I don't know, but I am interested in finding out. I've also heard ppl say that dandruff means that your hair is growing too... I don't know about that either tho....:look:

i cant see being sore as a sign of growth, but i could be wrong. i never really feel anything it just happends.

i think someone who had a significant amount of growth in a short time may be able to shed some light on it.

Not itchy - but tingling. It's an odd feeling - feels like little creatures are tapdancing on my scalp. Sore? No. Sore scalp sounds like a bad thing.

Ive heard reports of women who experienced itching/tingling right before a growth spurt. But Ive personally never experienced this.

I alway feel if my hair is uncomfortable in any way I do a wash or cowash to refresh....I also like to do scalp massages to loosen up any tension.

Whenever I get a growth spurt my head itches, burns :burn:, is sore, and makes me want to darn near rip it out :whyme:

Bad part is my scalp can be that way for 3-4 days before it all calms down.

cold water seems to helps the most for me so I rinse a lot during that time and keep a spritzer bottle in the fridge.

I've learned to not manipulate my head that much during that time too (cause it hurts like crazy).

Waaay back in the day when I knew nothing and my hair just grew, my head was very sore and growing very fast. I was in college then and the girls would walk up to me and tell me how fast my hair was growing and then run there fingers thru my hair, you know the "let see if it a weave" check!

So I can testify that a sore scalp = growth but it really depends on the situation. I was using Nexxus products then (back when it was worth somehting).

Right now my scalp itches something fierce! I currently have kinky twist and I don't know if its growth or irritation! I'm starting to think it irritation. By the way its been 1 week and I got a quarter inch of growth already! I'll let you decide.

Just my .02!

Same here. Mine is very sore (esp. in the crown) and very itchy during a growth spurt. :yep:

I've heard about the soreness but not about the itchiness.
Soreness of the scalp isnt necessarily a bad thing.
Your scalp can get sore when new hair follicles are growing from the scalp more than normal. (I personally experienced this earlier in my transition)
Your scalp can also get sore when you pull your hair in a direction that its not used to.

I get the soreness too. Especially in the front of my head. It seems to happen in sections. Never my whole head at the same time. After a few days I notice that my new growth is extremely thick in that area. Then I spend days parting my hair with my fingers just to feel my new growth......like I am now. LOL

LOL I also get the feeling of little creatures walking around on my head, nappywomyn. I told my DH this and he looked at me like . But like others say, washing my hair usually helps out a lot on the soreness and the feeling of little people walking on my scalp.

Right now I've got about 2 inches of NG and my scalp is a little tender to the touch when I manipulate the hair in the 4b areas, but it doesn't itch. Yet, I've heard others say this too. I'm wondering if it's true too.

I notice that around week #5-6 post relaxer I get a some new growth and my scalp feels sore when I move my hair. It also itches more. I am trying to stretch my relaxer for 3 months again. So I find myself washing and conditioning it a bit more often to ease the itch.

I do find my scalp hurts and/or itches when I have a growth spurt. The best thing for me when I get that odd ”squirmy” feeling in my scalp is to do a pore cleaning just in case some follicles are clogged and it’s just new hair trying to make it out into the sun. But, my scalp is rarely itchy so I pay close attention to it when it is. I notice more soreness when it's growing.

Well, as someone going thru some hair loss right now (diagnosed with scarring of the scalp, probably from relaxing), I can attest that itching are soreness are signs of both growth and loss. People who lose their hair--me included--commonly reporting the burning/itching sensations.

If you have it, I'd suggest just keeping an eye out for excess shedding to make sure you're getting only the GOOD burn/itch, not the bad kind.

I've been getting this a lot lately. That's why I have to fight the urge to break out the Maxiglide to see for sure. This especially happened when I was drinking 8 glasses of water a day. I've gotten rusty on it but will try this again to see if there's any correlation between tingling and water drinking. I'm cracking up about the little people tap dancing on our scalps. That's exactly what it feels like. And then the soreness follows. I feel that more on the left side of my head - I guess because that's the side where the major blood vessels are?

at times, my scalp is a little tender and I feel a tingling and a soreness. but i do get some itching. but I haven't experienced that sore sensation like I used to a couple of years ago. I relieve the itching/soreness with a good rinse.

I'm taking 1 gram of Silica every night b4 bed. I believe this is what's really doing it. I also boiled 5 Horsestail bags cooled overnight and added some EO's to it and spray it on daily (missing a few days here and there).

Now I got 3/4 inches in the back and about 1/2 inch every where else.

Me too, my scalp is so sore and itchy lately and it has been growing like weeds. I try not to touch it but I love feeling the new growth:D

This thread is so funny but true (for me atleast)!

I get "the little creature feeling" too. At a point in time I thought I had head lice.

My head itches something serious at the crown, and that is the place it grows the fastes. Who knew?

My scalp feels a little sore in the front after incorporating Lenzi's Request in my hair routine so I'm hoping that's a good thing! I've never experienced soreness before.

I was wondering about this. I have been taking biotin, exercising, using stanky glovers mane, baggying and eating more protein and my scalp is itching like crazy.

Another "oldie but goodie!" Mine actually itches like crazy when it's growing...I only notice the itching when it's braided, so I look like a fricken psycho doing the "weave pat" extra hard in public!

Mine is like that and that is why I had to stop with the Baggy method, I mean I can see my growth but the itchiness and soreness was a killer and it does get like that when it's growing, My Twa is getting bigger and the baggy method worked great but I have to give it a break and let that newgrowth come on through in peace. I make small parts and you can feel the little fuzzies of hair coming thru.

I've experienced an itching but not an itch persay when my hair is growing. It's had to describe the feeling but it's close to an itch, where I just have to massage my scalp. I try very hard to ignore it, most times...
