Sooo Frustrated!

My hair is breaking at the ends. Every time I touch my ends inches fall to the floor. It's so bad that my hair is the same length now as it was in Dec '05. I have tried using nexxus leave-in, I've used doo gro, I've used african pride. I have done aphogee treatmens, cholesterol treatments, hot oil olive oil. I stopped using irons on my hair, I do rollersets instead or air-dry. I braided my hair for a while, I switched shampoos, I tried keracare and garnier, pantene, sunsilk, nexxus, tresemme, the works...I cut inches off also.
I don't know what to do! I just wanna shave it all off! But i don't want to lose my length, which is SL but really thin.

Help!

hAVE YOU TRIED COCONUT OIL AS A PREE POO AND AND AS AN OVERNITE TREATMENT FOR THE ENDS OF YOUR HAIR. IT SEEMS TO BE THE MIRACLE OIL FOR ALMOST EVERYTHING. HTH

If you're doing all the proper care the only thing I that comes to mind is whether or not your hair is over processed and diet. Are you relaxed? If so do you go to a salon or do it yourself? You may need to switch to a mild relaxer or leave it in for less time. If you are doing it yourself beware of over lapping. If its porous porosity control may help. If your individual strands are very thin, you may not be able to tolerate a relaxer at all. If it is over processed you will need protein along with the moisture, but I noticed you do the aphrogee so beware as too much protein can make your hair hard. The other thing to look at is diet, you need adequeate protein, a daily multivitamin, (see queeny20, she just introduced me to a wonderful one, but you have to order it from a special website and to get a good price you need to be a member) and plenty of water. Also a supplement of oil, like omega-3, omega-6, or a fish oil capsule. A lot of people when they go on low fat diets tend to eat less protein, but you need it, since that is the building block of your body. You also need some fat in the diet, and lack of it can sometimes show up in dull hair and skin. If you are eating well, sometimes adding an enzyme to make sure your body is actually able to absorb the nutrients will help. Good luck!

how are you wearing your hair everyday. what i find helps me is after showering and patting dry with a towel, parting hair down the middle and making two two-strand twists or braids. then i coat my entire head with profectiv break free. then i cover tight with my silk scarf and go to bed. when i take off the scarf the next morning i leave my hair like that until i wash the next night. do u think its a moisture prob or a protien prob??

i have been doing this since i joined the forum 2 months ago with great results. my hair used to break off everywhere when i first started here, hth :)

You mentioned that your hair is shoulder length now. Are you wearing it down every day? The friction from hair brushing against your shoulders might cause the ends to break. Many ladies keep their hair in protective styles at least until it grows past this awkward length.

Also, you may want to start out trying some light protein treatments (not aphogee) like Motions CPR or Roux Mendex. If you follow with a good leave-in moisture product, this should help as well. Are you stretching your relaxer?

My hair is shoulder-length and I don't wear it down because it's so thin it looks ridiculous that way.

I think I'll try going back to CPR. What's the baggie method?

I agree with the diet theory. Are you eating properly and taking at least a multivitamin?

Do you manipulate your hair too much? Perhaps you are doing too much to it. That can be a problem as well. How long has this been going on?

I have thin hair genetically and I have to handle my hair very gently. I found the less I touch it throughout the day the less hairs (short or long) I see. Try a bun or ponytail for daily wear and focus on makeup and jewelry to WOW up your look until the problem ceases.

I am sure your hair will be beautiful again! Hang in there.

Moisturize and seal your ends everyday!!! This has helped me ALOT. SL is a difficult time to wear your hair down so try to keep it in protective styles till it gets a little longer. I agree with trying a mild proteing like motions or ors mayo. HTH

I wear my hair in a pony or pin it up, or put it in a bun. My breakage has been going on for about 2 1/2 years. I drink lots of naked juice, soy milk and whole grain cereals as well as fruits to try and improve my diet. I am so bad with pills! What do you do to prevent build-up and greasiness from moisturizing and sealing with oil?
