Soft manageable hair after relaxing?

I relaxed my hair this weekend and it feels so nice and soft, but I'm just wondering why does relaxing your new growth make the whole length of the hair feel soft? Hope this makes sense; as I notice my hair is a lot more manageable once relaxed, logically I would have thought just the roots would be more manageable.

Any thoughts

Yes, I noticed this too. My roots were not manageable at all and my ends looked liked they needed a serious trim. Well, I relaxed last Saturday and my ends, still although a lil see-thru, their not as bad as I thought.

Yes I have read this in many threads and my hairdresser also mentioned that it is due to the run-off, it sort of revitalizes your already relaxed tresses
