soft bonnet hair dryers

I have the Ion (spaceship:) ) dryer and I've had it for about a year. It has gone off on me a couple of times but it always came back on. I hope it lasts because I like it and I hate that it's discontinued. One thing I noticed is that when I have this on and I'm watching tv (I put the closed captioning on and read the words instead of trying to listen), if my remote touches the little thing that hangs around your neck where the air comes from, my remote stops working and I have to take the batteries out for a few minutes and then it will work again. I know that has nothing to do with this discussion but it's just something strange that I noticed.

I just took my ion back. I only used it twice and the first time it got extremely hot on the hot setting and the second time it didn't. I was under there almost 2 hours and my hair was no where near dry. I don't know if I used too much leave in condish or if it was the dryer but I don't have time for that. Also, the first time I went to use it it took forever for it to start up. I kept cutting it on and it wouldn't do anything. I hated to return it though because I really love the concept of it. I can move around, clean up, watch tv, and sleep with it on. I guess it's back to my hard bonnet :(.

Yep, I returned mine today and exchanged it for something else. Ill bet this is the reason that the Ion soft bonnet is being discontinued-because of all the problems with them. I cant wait to try my new Carel soft bonnet!!:p

I use the Carel soft bonnet from Sally's (I'm on my second one). The part where the bonet attaches to the hose keeps coming apart. I love using it, but don't understand why it keeps happening. Anyway, it has a year warranty, plus I got the $5 protection plan, so I'll be trying somthing new now.

Dang, when I first read this thread, I was sitting under my Ion soft bonnet and as soon as I clicked something else, the thing shut off!! I can't believe that... it was only like the 5th time that it had ever been used!!

I guess I'll try the Carel now...

I use a regular blowdyer with a soft bonnet attachment. I found my soft bonnet in a BSS in the blowdryer attachment section. It's just a simple black nylon one that you can adjust with a drawstring. It attaches to the blowdryer using elastic like you would find on a jacket. It cost me about $7. I also have one by Gold N' Hot. I don't like that one so much because it's not adjustable around the head, so it keeps floating off when the hot air gets flowing through. (Big design flaw). I have to pin it down with bobby pins.

My rollers really don't fit under either, so I use it for deep conditioning, or if I'm doing a rollerwrap/doobie with saran wrap.
