Hello All!!

I need your help purchasing a new bonnet dryer. The one I bought at the beginning of my hair journey has fallen apart. The ring connection was cheaply made and it has separated from the tubing. I love the idea of a bonnet... although the last one never dried anything... it allowed me lots of flexiability.

Please advise. Thanks mucho

Sallys has them. The one I bought was a Carel. It was alright but I got tired of it because it took forever to dry. It was convenient but just wasnt worth it to me. Needless to say, I took it back and got a refund and purchased a hard bonnet.

Soft bonnet is nice. However, when I roller set, I should plan to stay at least 2-3 hours under the dryer. I have the carel too and the elastic around the bonnet is busted and it needs to be replaced.

I swear by the ion soft bonnet. It is about 35 dollars at sally. But geez it can get hooooot and has plenty of room for big rollers.

Ok I got lazy and bought the converto kit, I take it from this thread I need to take it back huh?

Co-signing on the Ion Soft Bonnet from Sally's. You look like a space alien but it gets the job done. Happy Shopping!:D

I have one from Wal-Mart called Select Pro-Gold. It's about $25 and it's holding up well. I can't live w/o that thing! It dries my hair in about an hour and 15 min.

Lilpaw....your hair is georgeous!

I have the carel soft bonnet one and my bonnet thingy broke too. BUT the engineer in me placed a rubber band on the hose and then slid the bonnet part that's suppose to attach with the hose underneath the rubber band. Back in business! My sets take about 1.5 hours to dry. If the rubber band doesn't work, use a string. I think I'm going to try it that way the next go round.

You can order a replacement bonnet for about $6 bucks too. Do a search on bonnets because I remember seeing it somewhere on here.

I hear ya. I purchased this one (Carel from Sally's) twice and the elastic tore both times. I got tried of that and purchased the Pibbs 514 from Sally's catalogue.

I'm gave up!! I tried crazy glue.. and I managed to glue my fingers together and the bonet never stuck to the plastic. Today I found the Gold N Hot soft bonnet dryer... the one that looks like an astronaut. I likey. ;) I just did a deep condish after the aphogee super treatment. Now comes the test... drying my braids. We'll see.

Thanks for all the input.

Yup! I had the Carel, and it busted apart at the tube too. My Ion is still standing.

It is pretty hot under here (and its only on LO0 and I think it needs a muffler. So far, so good. Dlewis thanks for the suggestion.. I got it from one of your earlier posts.

Is this the dryer yall are talking about? I just looked on Sally's website and its being discontinued :(

Yes that is the one. Sally discontinued that version; however Gold N Hot made the same dryer

I found it on the top shelf of a BSS covered with dust. It isnt the most attractive contraption but at least I will be able to nap and dry my hair. I am not sure why but the hair process wears me out.

How do you use soft bonnets? Do you just plug in an outlet and it's good to go?

I love my Ion soft bonnet, although sometimes it just quits on me. I plug it up next time, and it works. It's been doing okay lately.

I love this dryer. I use it for drying my rollersets and deep conditoning. It dries my rollersets in about 1 - 1 and 1/2 hours. The only thing that I can't use it for is my aphogee treatments, and I do have a hard bonnet for that.

Does it fit extra large rollers? How does the gold-n-hot compare to the ION brand. It looks the same but is it the same?

I have this one also. You can rollerset or deep condition and it works great. I use it on low and it gets the job done greatly. I'm actually using it now.
