My hair is so strange. Good. But strange. I posted on the last board that I have always felt some reservations about how my hair seemed to demand a different brand for every product of my regime and that, worse, it wanted different brands on a cyclical basis. So not only couldn't I ever stick to one brand but I could even stick to any particular hodge podge of products.

Well once I accepted that for as weird as it was, I started suign some more of the products in my hair closet in the hopes that as least I could identify a few different combinations that worked.

When I first purchased Elucence stuff, I liked the conditioner ok - but I wasn't in love. I also bought the Acidifying Shampoo instead of the Moisture Balancing. Well I used that, Bone Marrow Protein Conditioner and the Moisture Balancing Conditoner, and then the same as a leave in mixed with water along with some Fantasia Balm mixed in. I washed, applied BM, left it on under a cap for a half hour, and then rinsed following up with the Elucence MB Conditioner, rinsed with the Chamomile and. Calendula rinse, put in a little more Elucence and then glazed a little Fantasia on top. I brushed my hair back into a wet bun and applied some ORS Temple Balm to my hairline - much the same way one might apply Wanakee's Hairline Essential Cream.

And it come out fabulously!

My hair is soft and smooth and my hairline feels moisturized as well. The bun portion came out in cute ringlets. I'm not sure if my hair just needed this combo because I recently relaxed or what but I'm loving it! Just thought I'd share. Both because I didn't think Elucence worked for me (and I discovered it really does - for now /images/graemlins/smile.gif ) and because in case anyone is struggling with having to change products frequently like me to get good results - to relay that I've discovered that for me, going with what your hair is asking for is definitely what's best. My scalp also feels great - I used Lisa Akbari's Method during my wash and used the post conditioning rinse my aunt prescribed.

Hey Tracy. I'm glad it worked for you. It takes a while to find a good hair routine, you know? I think I found mine too. I got the Elucence Shampoo and Conditioner and I do the ORS Mayo deep conditioner and that works real well for me. The sad part is I wasted soooo much money on products that are just sitting under my sink. I guess it's just trial and error before you find what works for you. Just like in life.... /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Could you kindly explain the Lisa Akbari method of shampooing? Please detail it. sounds interesting. Thank you. Bonjour.

Mahalialee4,

Lisa Akbari's method is pretty simple - it's just a lot of rinsing. You rinse for about 5 minutes or so BEFORE the actual washing takes place. Then you wash with shampoo twice and check the scalp to be sure it's clean. Then I towel dried my hair really well and applied my conditioner to both my roots and my ends - then I left it for a half hour and after that I rinsed again concentrating on the spots that were healing with very warm water for about 5 minutes separating the hair so that the scalp was effectively rinsed.

It's hard to explain - the book really details the whys and wherefores and I highly recommend it.

I just wanted to second the recomendation for Lisa Akbari's book.
I think it was excellent. She is a stylist and a tricholigist (hair and scalp doctor) She gives a lot of great info.
