I use nothing. I deep condition with NTM conditioner, rinse and set.
When I am in need of touchup I would use John Frieda relax ultra hydrating balm on roots when wet then set.
I use Headdress and Vive Smooth-Intense anti-frizz cream, sometime I spritz my hair with keracare setting lotion diluted with distilled water if my hair starts to dry before I'm done setting.
Salerm 21, Motions Foaming Wrap Lotion, Profectiv Healthy Ends, My own moisture concoction of which contains oils and Soft Sheen-Carson Mega Mhz Hi:Gloss Serum for shine and polish after drying.
I use a leave in (usually NTM or Salerm....sometimes giovani direct or something else laying around)....then use a little serum(Loreal smooth intense)....then Ill follow with a little setting lotion(elasta qp foaming setting lotion). My hair simply wont hold any curl if I dont use some! It was so sad the day I perfected a rollerset with the metal clips and it took me close to an hour to do it plus over another hour under the dryer...when I took it down there was barely any curl and when I wrapped it and took it down there was zilch! I was so mad!
Salerm 21, a little John Freida Relax Texture Correcting serum, and diluted setting lotion (1 part setting lotion, 2 parts distilled water in spray bottle). Once I'm done rolling I spray Surge between the parts on my scalp.
-quarter size amount of Wild Growth oil
-quarter size amount of Rusk Str8t leave-in
-just started to use a dime size amount of salerm and I have found it to add more moisture to my hair and minimizes breakage.
A friend of mine swears by Straight Request Silky Milk soft hold formula (red label). She uses it for wet sets on her relaxed hair and for braidouts on her daughter's natural hair. I bought some over a year ago and still haven't tried it...
I got mine from Shedeez.com. Paynesbeautysupply.com sells it, too.
Depending on the effect I am looking for, I will just use a conditionner or a setting lotion. In this last case, the one I use is an Indola product, with the grade for strong fixation. To get lasting curls, it is a must, but on the other hand it does the hair texture is not so pleasant. My husband is very sensitive to the hair texture and as far as possible I prefer to rollerset twice or even three times during the week than using setting lotion. Obviously time available is the key, as I need 3 hours overall to rollerset including 1 and half under the dryer.
Diluted Lottabody setting lotion to hold the set, and NTM Healing Shine Serum to impart softness and moisture. Great combo! Occasionally substitute Salerm 21 for NTM.
