I really wasn't planning on it today. Seriously. My sister was gonna blowdry (ughhh) and cornrow my hair with some kanekalon extensions. But after she loosened out my plaits, she pulled out the shears and said she's cuttin' these straight parts off.
And so the Big Chop commenced.
I'll be honest, I kinda miss the length, but this is something new. I have a fro! Like, a for real fro. This was done a few hours after I cowashed my hair, so it's a little dry, and shrinkage real does take NO prisoners.
My mom's eyes bugged out of her sockets when she saw me
. She looked like one of those cartoon characters! But I'm sure she'll get used to it. She's gonna have to.
The downside? My sister still plans on blowdrying this tonight for my cornrows (I have a dance recital tomorrow evening and my teacher wants our hair in a certain style). Yeah, my hair immediately said "NO" to that. It's like it has a mind of its own. And my sister is still working under a relaxed mentality (I had to insist to her that a wide-toothed comb and more leave-in moisturizer is what I need, not a small-toothed one through drying hair
) and even commented, "Dang, you gonna have that nappy n*gga hair... I'm sorry," at which I replied, "At what?" She was the one who did my BC in the first place.
Oh, and before y'all say anything, I know that
but the only pictures I've taken are on my cell phone and I have tried to send them to my e-mail about 3 times, but it's not going through. But I promise as soon as I get these up, y'all will be the first to see =)
