Hmm my coconut oil isn't gooey at all - it melts pretty easily. The only problem with putting it in a spray bottle is mine becomes solidified pretty easily when the temperature cools down but I guess it would work if you reheated/melted the bottle each time it solidified.
Re: so, lets say i wanna avoid the shiny gooey-nes
well, its not really gooey...but in its liquid form its a little difficult to handle! i keep it pretty warm in my apt, so, just sitting out its in its liquid form...
i have the virgin coco oil from puritan's pride...its a liquid, but its not a thin liquid like water...thats why i asked about diluting it...im just not a big fan of drippiness, and the coco oil is basically all over me when i try to use it in this state!

Oh okay, well I guess the drippiness once it's melted doesn't bother me. I'm quite sure it's too thick to go in a spray bottle though. Maybe try storing it in a cooler place so it won't melt as much.

I put mine in a bottle so that I can easily pour it into my hands. I don't have too much of a drip problem. Once I put it in my hands and then apply to my conditioned (leave-in) hair, it just disappears from the my hands. No greasy residue or anything. I LOVE coconut oil!

I put mine in a spray bottle with water and a little olive oil. If it solidifies then I put the bottle in hot water just before use. The ratio is 50% water, 40% coconut oil & 10% olive oil.

ITA! I discovered coconut oil a little late but I'm liking it. I've been con washing. I put a little serum, a dab of moisturizer and the coconut oil before I do a braid out and my new growth is loving it! It's a lot less dry and brittle...less breakage!
My braid outs are holding (the humidity isn't messing my hair up) and my hair sucks it all up by morning my hair is soft and moisturized....I can run my fingers through it and see a bit of sheen on my finger tips but it's NOT greasy...I'm not leaving any residue on anything if my head happens to touch it.
