So, I Tried To Imitate VWVixxen's Summer Style (Pics Insdie,Don't Laugh Y'all)..

So, of course I came home and attempted this style. Um, didn't quite turn out like VWVixxen. :lachen: But, it was worth a shot. If at first you don't succeed... I don't know what kind of braid it is, but it's not the pretty one that's showing in VWVixxen's siggy. :grin: . It's ok...and I'll probably wear it tomorrow because I don't feel like taking it down. I tried it about 4 times since I've come in from work. I don't like the hump in the front (pic of front not shown), but I'm thinking that by sleeping in my scarf tonight, that will lay it down some.

I will end up tucking the tail for protection. :)

Here's the braid I've been wearing for the past couple of weeks. It's just haired pulled to the back and the hanging portion braided and tucked up. Looking at this picture makes my attempt today look wonderful! :lachen:

SerenityPeace - Me, with thick hair, wow, thanks girl!!! I never thought I would hear those words. I guess the relaxer stretching, BT, Carrot Juice, Biotion/B-5/B-50 Complex are working. :lol: Thank you so much for the compliments!
 
VW has an inside braid, not a regular french braid.

I have never figured out how to do those but they are so pretty. VW I smell the need for a tutorial coming on!
 
I know and unfortunately my attempt at an underbraid turned out to be a regular old french braid.:lol: Definitely, not what I was going for but it's a protective style that I can use nonetheless. So, I'll chalk it up and keep on practicing.
 
Thank you for sharing your version of that hair style. It reminded me that I know how to braid my hair like that when I have my hair in micros. Since finding this board I have forsaken my precious micros for individual box braids and am on my 6 week rest period before getting a new set.

Long story short, I was going to make an emergency appointment to get my hair rebraided when I saw your pic and decided to try to braid my own hair and guess what? I did it!!!! I can't post a pic b/c I am in the HYH challenge but thanks for sharing and jogging my memory. My braid isn't neat but it's a start.

You should check out Victorious hair album-protective styles. I have been a fan of her styles for a while now.....too bad I haven't found the courage to try them:)

I'm so glad my post inspired you and jogged your memory. My attempt at braiding wasn't in vain afterall. :lol:
 
I think it looks great! Just keep practicing, and before you know it, you'll be able to braid it without even looking. I think it's totally cute, though.
 
hey...you did a GREAT job!!

Your braid is on the outside! I can't do the outside...but I can do the inside braid. I like it!!! :)
 
It looks good to me! I like it!

To do the inside braid, from the start...you just grab the hair OVER with your pointy finger instead of grabbing under and you keeping pulling from OVER the other hand...clear as mud!!! LOL!

Thanks apples! It's funny because I've tried in years past and have never been able to do the braid on the outside, it always turned out to be inside. Now that I want it to be an inside braid, I can't do it. :lol: I guess it would be too much like right for my hair do what I want it to do. :grin: Go figure!

Thanks girl!!! LOL!!!! Girl, I'm going to have to study your post the next time I do this braid (next week). I'm not taking this braid down until tomorrow evening and then Friday morning I'm going to get my hair shampooed and styled at the Aveda Institutue so that I can look cute when I go to Chicago to see "The Color Purple" this weekend.
