She did a pretty good job, but I think I'm going to continue to look for someone else. I liked that she applied the relaxer very quickly and didn't overlap. What really bugged me was that she was about to start applying the relaxer without baseing my scalp! I had to stop her and tell her I needed my scalp based. I also had to ask her to put protective coating on my previously relaxed hair. If it hadn't been for those two things I would have been very happy. But I don't like feeling like I have to be so on guard with a hairdresser. I don't think I should have to remind them of how to do their job properly. When you go to a doctor, you shouldn't have to remind him/her not to forget the anesthesia before surgery. I feel the same about hairdressers. I expect them to know what they are doing. I'll go to her again if I can't find anyone more to my liking, but I'm going to keep looking. Thanks for reading.

It's good you were keeping an eye on what she was doing. You may have to do that no matter where you go...(and personally, I would anyways no matter what is being done to my hair...)
At least she did it without getting an 'attitude'....like someone else may have.

i agree with sweetcocoa. you should always keep an eye on what's being done.

if you were pleased with the results, but the only issue was you having to tell her those things, i think you should keep going to her. everyone is different, and some people don't (think they) require those steps. but you are a more educated consumer. the main thing is that SHE LISTENED!! that's half the battle with some of these stylists. it's one thing to have to tell someone what you like being done. it's quite another having to argue with them over whether what you want done is necessary. once she becomes more familiar with what you expect, you probably won't have to tell her.

i'd give her another shot!! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I agree with Sweetcocoa and Adrienne. I would also continue going to her because you 'sound' very excited about her doing your relaxer touch ups.

Thanks for the input, ladies. See, I told y'all I'm picky as hell. /images/graemlins/grin.gif Yes, I do appreciate that she did what I suggested without giving me any attitude about it. She seems like someone I can work with if I don't like something she's doing, so I will probably stick with her. But I will pre-base my own scalp beforehand next time.

was hse using a lye relaxer on you? if so that was a disgrace she did not think of basing cos i know for a fact that is the first thing they are taught in beauty school! in any case she seems fine and its a good idea you have about basing your scalp yourself before going in (whether you know for sure you will be based or not). she seems like a keeper cos she listened to you/images/graemlins/up.gif

take care, ciao

I say keep her and I agree with Adrienne and Sweetcocoa /images/graemlins/smile.gif She never gave you any attitude either which seems to be a rarity.
