Just curious to know if anyone is planning on doing her method?
BlackMasterPiece, posted this right on time for me. I have been wanting to adopt a low to know manipulation plan.
So I slapped some cornrows in my hair the other day. I added some yaki bulk hair. A cornrow style is ok for me b/c I wear my hair covered all day everyday.

I don't know if I can go without washing for one month, I am going to take it on a week to week basis if I feel like co-washing I will, but I will do it with my hair still in the braids.

I think for the first month, I will attempt to do exactly what she does, then after that make adjustments the suit me.

I can post pics of my cornrows if you like
they are not spectacular or anything. I didn't use a mirror so my parts could be a little straighter. I am not kidding when I say I "slapped" them in:grin:

I've been doing this before I knew it was her method. i cornrow my hair and slap on my custom wig. No more braids or weaves for a while I had 2 mini set backs and the wigs are a lot safer. i take my braids down every month I'm shooting for 6 -8 weeks sometimes i take a braids out and re-braid here and there so i can go for long stretches. I wash & DC 1x per week

BMP did a retraction on the hair washing thing. Longhairdon'tcare washes her hair 2 to 3 times a month when she's wearing braids.

Yes, I plan on using it while I transition and to keep the braids in I'm gonna crochet micros in my hair. I may not wash with shampoo but I will do a tea rinse with acv just to refresh and keep my scalp cleaner then not.

Yeah. Essentially the whole thing is just super low manipulation. Works for me.

When I bced years ago, I was still in college and wore cornrows underneath a hat like everyday. My hair went from 1 inch to SL for in a year. I seriously think I retained every inch that year.

I wish I was in school again so I could do that, but for now, I'm using braids to transition again. CrownNGlory, LHDC's, and most of the long haired ladies on this forum...all have the same thing..lo-mani.

I really think that's the mistake I have been making is fooling with my hair too much. So I need to do something seemingly extreme like this to keep my hands outta my head.

Me and my lil' sis were already doin this method. Only thing is, we do individuals on our natural hair, no extensions added. Her hair is much longer than mine, so she just wears a bun. I need pins for my shorter pieces if I decide to wear a bun, but sometimes I'll roll mine up to make curls or style the plaits into flait twists and a french braid, the way a person might style locs.

My sister's hair was already pretty sick, but this helped her grow out her layers and you can see how it thickened up. Now she has BSL hair that's all just about one length.

I already have problems with retention because my strands are very fine and weak, and can't take much manipulation in the natural state. This works perfectly for me because I don't have to fool with my hair much.

To cleanse it I pour a little shampoo into a gallon drink pitcher, fill it up with water and more over my head. I rinse, add my Aphogee 2-min., rinse and do my DC under the dryer, all with the plaits in.

The only thing I have to be sure of with this method is that I moisturize and apply my hair butter like I'm supposed to or my hair will be extremely dry. My concern is that the dry hair will get brittle and break, just like if it was loose.

Other than that, My hair is finally making the progress I was hoping for.

As I posted in the original thread, I've been doing this method for about 4 mos now (and will keep doing it indefinitely)...I just didn't know it was "her method," so-to-speak. I don't braid my hair with extensions either, as I just plait it while damp (after washing) and let it airdry. It doesn't have to be super neat or cute, cuz I'm gonna slap a LF on it before leaving the house anyway! I do only wash my hair about once or twice a month, though LHDC washes her's more. I can't spend 2-3 hrs on my hair (wash, D/C, detangle, braid) several times a week or every weekend. I have other priorities time and energy-wise.

:) That's why I put that in quotes, I know it's not a new idea, she just has it very well documented showing how well it worked for her. and of course BlackMasterPiece very recently posted about LHDC's success with it doing that method.
I only added hair to my cornrows because my hair is so thin, when I do cornrows without extra hair I don't like the way it looks.

Me too girl. Even keeping braids in for 4 or more weeks is pure hell for me. I have ADD or something and have to constantly change my styles or play in my hair. But I'm trying super hard to make 2010 a consistent long term protective style year.

You know you can do the same thing with twists, it doesn't have to be cornrows.

Yep, this is what I've been doing. Wearing twists for 3 weeks ... 4 weeks if I can help it. I wash weekly or bi-weekly and just retouch the edges.

Although I would never adopt her regimen, I have to admit that my mom kept my hair in braids or in a bun about 99.9% of the time when I was a kid and my hair was thick and long. Probably stinky too LOL can't remember.

I definately suffer from Hair ADHD.:lachen::lachen: If/ err when I make it through this month without touching my hair, I might try to keep it going another month.

As many people mentioned, it's all about low manipulation, in my case extreme low manipulation. lol
Love it.

I agree, and to be honest, My hair can't stand to be wet that often, to be real, if I did'nt have to ever wet it again, it would be all good, I have that "Extremely" fragile hair when wet, its ridiculous, I am scared to touch it when wet, that is why I started stretching My Wash Session Days to every 10 Days as opposed to every 7, what bothers Me is that I love what DC's have done for the health of My hair, but to DC You have to wet Your hair one way or another, now I'm not going to sit here and act like its such Taboo to not wash frequently, cause thats a bunch of bull, and I am not going to sit here and act like prior to LHCF I washed every Week either, and I'm sure many didn't, Please!, but in any case, thats why I don't have a problem with this method, at all, as long as I know its not smelly or filthy, I'm Good. also, I know that I'm doing it for a purpose, not just to be dirty.

Nope, my hair is too fine for a blow dryer and I look ridiculous in cornrows.

However, I think I'm still doing a modified version of her regimen. I Wash, DC, air dry, and braid every three weeks, but I DC every weekend.

:giggle::giggle: girl now you know everyone here cowashed their hair eerrday before LHCF, to do so otherwise is just unheard of! *clutches pearls*

This is what I'm going to be doing. I recently figured out how to do twists in a way that I can wash them without locs forming. So now that I don't have to retwist after each wash, I'm going to do this method.

I already wear my hair in the same 2 styles. A) twists collected in a bun or B) cornrows in the front and twists in the back... collected in a bun. I do it with no extension hair added.

I'm going to continue to wash every week or two.

:)
